The ultimate Rega turntable, the production version of the Naiad
The Naiad in production form
The Naia is Rega's flagship turntable and the production version of the Naiad, the laboratory turntable on which the company tested its most advanced ideas. Rega describes it as a design without compromise, aimed at a new level of vinyl playback. It combines a graphene-impregnated carbon fibre plinth, ceramic braces, a ceramic platter, a ZTA bearing and the RB Titanium tonearm. It comes with the Naia reference power supply, without a cartridge, and is hand-built in England.
Reference power supply and triple belt
The reference power supply uses a DSP generator with a high-stability crystal and drives the 24 V low-noise motor with a near-sinusoidal waveform. It offers electronic 33⅓/45 rpm switching and fine speed adjustment, while vibration and speed are tuned at the factory. Drive is transferred through three Reference EBLT belts, and the turntable stands on aluminium feet.
Cartridge and system
Rega recommends the Aphelion 2 moving coil cartridge, the Aura MC phono stage and amplifiers such as the Aethos and Osiris. The Naia was named Best High-End Turntable 2024/25 by AV Forums and received an Editor's Choice from The Ear.
Graphene carbon fibre plinth
The Naia plinth is the stiffest Rega has ever fitted to a production turntable. It combines aerospace materials with the company's familiar low-mass philosophy, in a skeletal shape that removes every unnecessary gram.
Carbon fibre, graphene and Tancast 8
The outer skin is graphene-impregnated carbon fibre, while the core is Tancast 8 polyurethane foam. The foam limits the transfer of vibration through the structure, and the graphene significantly increases the stiffness of the skin. The result is a base that is exceptionally light yet almost immovable, storing very little energy.
Two ceramic braces
Double Brace technology is applied here with two aluminium oxide ceramic braces, on the top and bottom faces. They sit between the tonearm mount and the main bearing and form a rigid stressed beam. Because the rest of the plinth is so light, energy absorption and unwanted resonance are kept to an absolute minimum.
What it means when listening
With almost no stored energy, the stylus hears only the groove. Reviewer Jason Kennedy wrote that the Naia reveals just how much musical detail a vinyl record holds, while The Absolute Sound described it as an uncompromising design that remains compact and easy to set up in a real-world system.
Finish
The texture of the carbon fibre remains visible and gives the Naia its distinctive, technical look, while the aluminium feet complete the clean design. It is a turntable whose appearance is defined entirely by its engineering.
RB Titanium tonearm
The RB Titanium is Rega's flagship tonearm and the natural successor to the RB3000. Rega recommends pairing it with the Aphelion 2, the top moving coil cartridge in its range.
One-piece titanium
The vertical bearing and spindle are made from titanium in a single piece. This eliminates joints that could create play or store energy. The bearings are of the highest grade and hand-selected, so movement is almost friction-free with no measurable free play.
Tungsten balance weight
Both the balance weight shaft and the weight itself are made of tungsten, a very dense metal. It is part of a design that keeps mechanical joints and free play to an absolute minimum along the entire arm. The low-mass aluminium arm tube is polished by hand.
Uncompromised signal path
The low-capacitance phono cable terminates in Neutrik Profi RCA plugs for a secure, low-loss connection to the phono stage. The arm has an effective mass of 11 g and Rega's standard geometry, with an effective length of 23.65 cm and a mounting distance of 22.2 cm. Minimal friction and the absence of play allow the stylus to trace even the finest groove modulations with precision, so the cartridge can deliver everything it is capable of.
Minimal joints
Every point where two parts meet is a potential source of resonance. That is why Rega designed the RB Titanium with as few mechanical joints as possible, so the arm behaves as a single, rigid body from bearing to headshell.
ZTA bearing and ceramic platter
At the centre of the Naia sits a bearing and platter system that Rega designed using the most demanding materials in its range.
ZTA bearing
The spindle and housing of the main bearing are made of ZTA (zirconia toughened alumina), an extremely hard ceramic, and are produced as a matched set. Manufacturing involves several stages, including firing at 1,600 °C for three days. The bearing runs on a thin layer of synthetic oil, and Rega calls it the hardest and longest-lasting bearing it has ever made. The sub-platter is custom-machined from aluminium.
Ceramic platter
The same aluminium oxide ceramic used for the braces also forms the platter. It has a complex, resonance-controlled profile and an improved flywheel effect, so rotation stays stable. Manufacturing involves pressing, firing and diamond machining for perfect flatness.
Precision that lasts
Because ZTA is so hard, the bearing is designed to keep its precision over a very long service life, which is exactly why Rega chose it for its flagship. Combined with the three EBLT belts and the reference power supply, the system delivers the calm and stability expected of a true reference turntable, record after record and year after year.
Three EBLT belts
The belt rubber compound was developed over three years in collaboration with chemists. The belts are made on precision tooling so they are round and dimensionally accurate, supporting stable speed.
