Although designed as a snare drum for students, the Acrolite Snares quickly found their way into professional drum setups with their 14" x 6.5" aluminium shell. This is due to the incomparably dry, crisp sound, which reflects the typical Ludwig sound in all its facets.Circumferential bead for high tuningsInstead of constantly trying to reinvent the wheel, the traditional American brand Ludwig prefers to rely on the tried and tested. The 14-inch diameter and 6.5-inch depth-measuring aluminum Acrolite shell, for example, resembles its legendary 1963 model down to the smallest detail. The surrounding bead provides the shell with the necessary stability to ensure even extremely high head tensions. The hammering of the shell gives the Acrolite Snare a more complex sound, peppered with harmonic overtones. After repeated evaluations of our design by Steve Gadd, we have created a groundbreaking snare drum.To date, Yamaha’s snare drums have traditionally had the metal center bead on the interior of the drum. However, we have taken the step of fixing the center bead to the outside of the drum to produces a more open sound than our conventional drums, for crisp, articulate performance.The heavy-duty Q-type strainer is robust whilst offering solid, stable and smooth operation, along with adjustment and snare replacement.
