Cork and rubber turntable mat for 12-inch platters
The TT-CRM is a turntable mat made from a blend of cork and rubber. Cork damps vibration while rubber adds mass and grip, so the record sits steadily on the platter.
A quieter surface
The blend of the two materials absorbs unwanted energy returning from the platter to the stylus. According to the manufacturer this translates into a quieter background and a more stable presentation.
No static, no slipping
Unlike felt, cork does not build up a static charge and does not cling to the record when you lift it. It suits 12-inch platters and works at 33⅓ and 45 RPM.
Cork and rubber
Cork has been used on turntables for decades, and not as a style choice. It is porous and light, and it damps vibration instead of reflecting it.
Why a blend rather than plain cork
Plain cork is light and wears over time. The rubber mixed into it adds mass and grip: the mat sits more firmly on the platter, the record does not shift, and the surface lasts.
The difference from felt
The felt slipmat supplied with most turntables was designed to let the record slip under a DJ hand. For ordinary listening that is not needed, and felt builds up static, collects dust and often lifts with the record.
Fitting
It goes straight in place of the existing slipmat, with no tools and no adjustment. It suits 12-inch platters at both speeds, 33⅓ and 45 RPM. If it needs cleaning, a dry brush or a lightly damp cloth is enough.
