The MicroMain27 Gen2 is a 3.5-way active system with 5 drive units housed in sealed enclosures spanning 30Hz to 45kHz with vanishingly low distortion, breathtaking dynamic range and ultra-fast transient response. The ring radiator tweeter is incredibly detailed and produces very wide dispersion out to its highest frequencies. The new 5.25″ midbass features a phalanx of advanced technology, yielding midrange detail that rivals any driver on the planet. Barefoot has teamed up with the brilliant Bruno Putzeys of Hypex to develop the powerful and completely transparent amplifier stage of the MM27 Gen2. Melding the system together is a groundbreaking new DSP crossover that has taken Thomas Barefoot more than 4 years to develop. With beautifully designed high end converts and cutting edge proprietary filtering techniques the MM27 Gen2 sound stage is seamlessly coherent and deeply revealing. MEME™ Technology: Despite the advantages of high resolution monitors, Thomas Barefoot realizes that many engineers still use their NS10M’s † and mix cubes as secondary references. These speakers have long traditions and people find them familiar and useful for focusing in on certain aspects of their mix. However, crowding one’s console with those extra boxes degrades the sound field of the primary reference monitors. Not to mention, they are no longer manufactured, they need amplifiers, cable runs, and they consume more studio space. The solution is to make the MM27 sound and translate like those speakers. With the turn of a knob one can switch from the MicroMain27′s brutally revealing “Flat” response to the warmer and sweeter “Hi-Fi” setting, generically emulating the sound of some high end consumer audio gear. More specifically the “Old School” setting closely emulates the sound of the NS10M nearfield, while the “Cube” setting emulates the mid-centric sound of classic mix cubes The idea is not to perfectly replicate every subtle quirk of these venerable old speakers. That would be impossible. But the MM27 Gen2 can capture the essence of how they behave and translate, modeling their frequency, phase and transient responses, dynamic compression and even specific distortion components. If you know how to work on these speakers you will feel very comfortable working on the new MM27′s emulation settings.  MicroMain27 Gen2 features: 3.5-way active studio monitor with integral subwoofers Four-setting DSP voice emulation Analog and AES3 digital inputs Hypex amplification Tweeter - 1" ring radiator with Advanced neodymium motor Rear waveguide chamber. Barefoot Sound’s new Footprint line of powered near-field monitors delivers the company’s uncompromising audio performance and build quality to engineers, producers, composers and musicians working in smaller spaces and with smaller budgets. The new line launches with the Barefoot Footprint01, an active 3-way speaker that shares the same Thomas Barefoot signature designs — Dual-Force™ technology opposing subwoofers, dual ring radiator tweeter and Multi-Emphasis Monitor Emulation™ technology — as the MicroMain and MasterStack monitor lines. Footprint01 features dual opposing 8-inch paper cone subwoofers, a 4-inch aluminum cone midrange driver and a 1-inch dual ring radiating tweeter, components that all share a lineage with Barefoot’s other products. The 2-way DSP crossover feeds dual Class D amplifier modules that drive the subwoofers with 500 W of power and deliver 150 W to the mid- and high-frequency drivers. There is a passive crossover network between the midrange driver and the tweeter. The midrange woofer is positioned above the tweeter in an unusual speaker geometry that creates the acoustic focus in the center of the cabinet.Thomas Barefoot’s approach to reference monitor speaker design has always been to provide audio professionals with exemplary sound quality, wide dynamic range and bass extension at every stage of the audio production process, from re cording through mixing to mastering. But not every project begins or ends in a high-end studio that offers Barefoot MicroMain or MasterStack monitors. The new Footprint01 model is Barefoot Sound’s response to evolving modern workflows, making the company’s ultra-high performance technologies available to audio professionals working in home-based facilities, smaller writing, editing or post production rooms, or on the road. Now, composers, songwriters, musicians, beat- makers, post production specialists and others can benefit from the Barefoot sound, whatever their work environment.Just like every other Barefoot monitor, Footprint01 allows you to preview your mix as it would sound through three alternate reference speakers through Barefoot’s revolutionary Multi-Emphasis Monitor Emulation™ technology. MEME™ uses sophisticated DSP modeling to mimic the frequency, phase, transient response, dynamic compression and distortion characteristics of a variety of classic near-field studio monitors. Many people still like to reference their work on old, familiar speakers to check how their mixes will translate or to focus on a specific aspect. But in smaller workspaces there may be no room for even a second set of reference speakers. Barefoot’s powerful MEME technology effectively helps overcome that challenge through its four-in-one solution. Specifications: Description: 3-way active monitor with MEME voice emulationControls: Input level stepped attenuator, MEME voice selectAudio Input: Balanced XLR, 50 kOhm ImpedanceSensitivity: 90 dB @ 1 meter with -15 dBV input signal (level control set to 0 dB)Frequency Response: 36 Hz – 45 kHz (±3 dB), 45 Hz – 40 kHz (± 1dB)Bass Response: -3 dB @ 36 Hz, Q = 0.707, Slope = 18 dB/octaveCabinet: 18 liters total internal volume, sealed woofer and midrange enclosures, machined aluminum baffle plate, long fiber wool acoustic damping throughoutCrossover Frequencies: 250 / 3600 Hz (Passive crossover between Midrange and Tweeter)Tweeter: 1″ ring radiator, low distortion motor, rear waveguide chamberMidrange: 4.0″ aluminum cone, aluminum phase plug, low distortion motor, ±3.5 mm linear excursionWoofers: 8″ paper cone, ±9.5 mm linear excursionHigh Frequency Amplifier: 150WLow Frequency Amplifier: 500 WAC Mains Power Input: 85 VAC to 265 VACPower Consumption: Idle: 2 W, Maximum: 765 WWeight: Speaker: 35 lb each (16 kg)Shipping: 44.5 lb each (20.2 kg)Dimensions H x W x D: Cabinet: 14 x 9.5 x 13.0 in (356 x 241 x 330 mm)Overall: 14 x 10.25 x 13.6 in (356 x 260 x 345 mm)

The Avantone ACTIVE MIXCUBE, Pair, Black Powered Full-Range Mini Reference Monitors. Active recording / mixdown monitors for the new millennium. The Avantone ACTIVE MIXCUBE is designed to be high resolution, full-range powered mini-reference monitors for fixed or remote locations. The secondary engineering facet was to create a timeless design that compliments a single full range transducer. Studios primarily use 2-way and 3-way large monitors designed to represent a wide range reference viewpoint at higher listening levels. However, in the newly developing age of High Definition Audio, there is still a need to hear what your mix will sound like when played back over small “bass-challenged” systems such as televisions, clock radios, computers, car stereos, ipod docking stations, etc. It is important to make mixing judgments based partially on listening to reference monitors that will not impart tonal anomalies caused by crossovers or inferior full range drivers.Particular attention is always paid to the critical mid-range vocal/guitar/keyboard areas. This is where having a full-range monitor without a crossover is truly revealing.More than twelve months of R&D, comparative listening and tweaking went into the voicing of the AVANTONE Active MixCubes. The result is a very smooth sounding, full range upgrade from those old familiar 5C Sound Cubes engineers were so fond of in the 1980’s-1990’s. Listening tests reveal that the MixCubes have a smoother midrange, more accurate, transparent top end response with extended bass while maintaining the basic characteristics of those original little cubes Cabinet Design. The AVANTONE Active MixCubes are constructed of non-layered, high rigidity MDF board due to its natural low-resonance characteristics. All cabinet edges are radiused with an elegant polyurethane high gloss “Butter-Cream” finish. 7mm thick neoprene pad embedded into the base of the cabinet serves as a skid-resistant acoustic isolator. For creative mounting situations, there is a useful, industry standard 5/8 inch -27 mic stand mount in the base. The paper cone, (chosen for its musical character) was custom designed utilizing the latest in FEA modeling and “old-school” speaker design artistry. The finest New Zealand pulp material is blended with mica fibers for rigidity and longevity. The cloth surround material is made in Japan and has unique damping characteristics, enabling a predictable compliance over the lifespan of the driver. The motor structure is made of certified 1008 low carbon steel by Sumitomo. The magnets are Y- 40 GRADE (MIL-SPEC) yielding a 43oz. High-power/low-distortion motor structure. Avantone's proprietary 5.25 inch die-cast aluminum frame supports the driver/cone minimizing mechanical transfers. The outer mounting face of the aluminum frame is polished for an elegant appearance. The Active MixCubes each contain a separate 35-watt Class A/B amplifier with cooling handled by Convection/Heat Sink-Aluminum Fins. The main features of the Avantone ACTIVE MIXCUBE include:Black finishPowered Full-Range Mini Reference Monitors for the new millenniumSYSTEM TYPE: Active (Self-Powered) shielded full-range stereoFREQUENCY RESPONSE: 90Hz-17,000Hz (Accessible musical range)SPL/SENSITIVITY: 94db @1w/1 meterPOWER: 35 watts RMS Class A/BCOOLING: Convection / Heat Sink-Aluminum FinsDRIVER: 8 ohm 5.25” Cast Aluminum Frame / Paper ConeCABINET: Sealed design /18mm MDF/ with Dacron Acoustical stuffingINPUTS: XLR & TRS +4/Balanced & RCA/-10 UnbalancedCABINET DIMENSIONS: 165mm X 165mm X 206mm ( 6.5 x 6.5 x 8.125 inches) cabinet depth // 165mm X 165mm X 241mm ( 6.5 x 6.5 x 9.5 inches) overall depthCABINET WEIGHT: 4kg / 8.8 Lbs (each)

Focal leads the way in affordable nearfield monitors by combining breakthrough designs with technologies they first developed for high-end models such as their successful SM series. This Shape 40 is the 4" model in the Shape series, which brings top-quality Focal reference monitoring to your studio, editing suite, songwriting workstation, or any other application where your space may be limited but your need for accurate monitoring isn't. A cutting-edge flax-sandwich cone, M-shaped inverted-dome driver, innovative acoustics, and ideal electronics all add up to a speaker that's extremely linear and free from distortion, offering clear midrange intelligibility and imaging. And thanks to its dual-passive-radiator design, you can comfortably place your Shape 65s near walls, while enjoying extended low end that's still tight, controlled, and accurate.Raising the bar on glass speaker conesFocal first introduced their glass-fiber speaker cones in their SM series, where the extraordinary definition provided by their lightweight rigidity made them an instant hit among professional mix engineers. Focal's Shape series takes this speaker design one step further by introducing a layer of flax fiber, which is significantly more rigid and twice as light as glass fiber. They sandwiched this flax layer between layers of glass fiber, resulting in a piston-like low-frequency action and increased dampening. You'll be astonished by the low-frequency accuracy and midrange clarity these speakers offer. You couldn't ask for better compact nearfield monitors when it comes to critical mixing applications. Revolutionary M-shaped inverted-dome tweeter The Shape series introduces another major design upgrade to Focal's nearfield monitor technology by reimagining their already impressive aluminum-magnesium dome tweeter. For starters, the M shape itself provides increased rigidity, which offers many of the same advantages as the increased rigidity of their flax fiber cones: greater definition with lower distortion. The M-shaped dome works with its own dedicated TMD surround for an impressively linear response below 6kHz. This horn also comes outfitted with housing that provides equal horizontal and vertical directivity, and a less-directional profile overall. Finally, the magnetic component, which features a Kapton former in the voice coil, offers a lower high-frequency distortion than Focal has previously achieved in an affordable nearfield monitor.     TMD surround ensures total midrange neutralityBeneath the elegant walnut veneer and meticulously calculated MDF enclosure, each Shape series studio monitor features a number of technologies that give them uniquely linear frequency responses. One of these is the TMD surround ringing either speaker. Strangely enough, this stabilization element comes from special architecture found at the top of skyscrapers such as Taipei 101. These suspended harmonic absorbers promote a more piston-like action that targets specific frequencies. In the Shape series, these surrounds produce a remarkably flat frequency response around 1kHz–2kHz, resulting in astonishing neutrality with virtually no measurable distortion.  Double passive-radiators ensure low-end stabilityOne of the technologies Focal popularized in their previous generation upper-end monitors was the use of passive radiators. Just as they did in the SMseries, these passive radiators provide the Shape series reference monitors with an extended low-frequency response that goes far beyond what the seasoned studio engineers at Sweetwater expect from modest-sized nearfields.By balancing low-frequency harmonics with the dual surrounds highlighted above, these passive radiators accomplish what ports simply can't, providing you with low-frequency tuning that extends bass clarity and allows you to position your monitors closer to walls, without compromising accuracy. This detail makes them an ideal choice for small studios and editing suites.     Next-generation amplification and electronicsIt's impossible to overstate how important a role the amplifier plays in the function of precision reference monitors such as Focal's Shape series, both in terms of pairing the appropriate electronics with the acoustic elements and in providing you with the flexibility needed to tailor the sound to your control room. Regardless of other settings, Shape series studio monitors provide a stable tonal balance at any volume, a key element in creating mixes that translate well outside the studio. At the same time, you can easily adjust your Shape studio monitors to your room, thanks to the tunable shelving filters and 160Hz crossover slope. There's also an adjustable highpass filter onboard, so you can cut out serious low-frequency problems or accommodate specific subwoofer setups.
