Stainless mounting nut for older Rega tonearms
The critical mounting point
The Rega Arm Nut Inox is the stainless steel clamping nut for Rega’s older tonearms, such as the RB250, RB300 and RB600, which fix to the plinth with a single large central nut. It is the right spare when the original is lost or worn.
Why it matters
For Rega, rigid mounting of the arm to the plinth is one of the most important factors in sound. A correct, firmly tightened nut keeps the arm stable so energy from the stylus is not lost in micro-movements.
Rigid mounting
Rega insists that the connection between arm and plinth affects the sound more than many fine adjustments. The nut is the key link in that connection.
No micro-movement
A correctly tightened nut ensures the arm base does not move at all relative to the turntable, so energy generated by the stylus does not escape into resonance.
Cleaner sound
Secure mounting brings tighter bass, better focus and a clearer stereo image — qualities that made the RB250 and RB300 so popular.
Stainless material
Stainless steel withstands tightening torque without deforming and does not corrode over the years, keeping the thread in good condition.
For classic arms
Thousands of turntables, Rega and others, still run RB250, RB300 and RB600 arms. The genuine nut keeps them in top condition.
Replacing a worn nut
Over the years, or after repeated arm removal, the original nut may lose its precision or go missing. The spare restores correct mounting.
Moving an arm
When a Rega arm moves to another turntable, a new nut is often needed. The genuine part ensures a correct thread and contact.
With shims
Combined with Rega’s 2 mm stainless shims, the nut allows height adjustment without sacrificing stability.
Correct fitting
Fixing the arm is a simple job, but it must be done carefully to preserve alignment and the rigid joint Rega designs for. A few minutes of care pay off in years of correct performance.
Alignment
Before final tightening the arm must be correctly oriented to keep the right pivot-to-spindle distance and cartridge alignment.
Correct torque
The nut should be tightened firmly but not excessively. Over-tightening can stress the arm base.
Which arms
It is a genuine Rega stainless steel spare for the older centre-fixed RB250, RB300 and RB600 arms. For shim stacks above 4 mm Rega specifies a sleeved version.
