Rega Felt Mat Standard

The surface a record rests on affects the sound more than it seems. Rega settled on wool after years of testing.

Controlled damping

Wool absorbs part of the vibration the stylus creates in the record without deadening the sound. The result is natural tone and clean detail.

Less static

Unlike many synthetic materials, natural wool limits static build-up. Records do not cling and attract less dust.

Consistent quality

Rega’s mat is 100% wool with no blends, so it keeps its properties over time and behaves exactly like the mat supplied with the turntable.

The mat is not just a cosmetic accessory; it is part of the turntable’s geometry.

Record height

Rega sets its tonearm at the factory for the height of a record on the genuine mat. A mat of different thickness changes vertical tracking angle (VTA).

Genuine spare

With the Rega Felt Mat Planar 3/6/8 record height stays exactly as Rega designed, with no need to readjust the arm.

For your turntable

This version is intended for Planar 3, Planar 6 and Planar 8.

It is made from 100% natural wool, which reduces static and spurious vibration and protects records from scratches.

A clean, soft mat is the first line of protection for your collection.

No scratches

Soft wool cushions the record surface without marking it, as could happen on a hard platter or a worn mat.

When to replace

If the mat has gathered dust that will not shift, is creased or faded, it is time for a new one. A worn mat transfers dust to records and finally to the stylus.

Simple care

A soft brush is enough for everyday care. Avoid liquids and detergents, which can alter the texture of the wool.
