2 mm stainless shim for RB250 and RB300 tonearms
For classic Rega tonearms
The Rega Arm Spacer Inox is a simple 2 mm stainless steel shim fitted under the tonearm to adjust its height. It is intended for Rega’s older arms such as the RB250 and RB300, which are secured by a large nut underneath.
Not for three-point arms
The shim does not fit modern three-point-mount arms. For those Rega offers the 3-Point VTA Spacers in stainless or black versions.
Right height, right geometry
The RB250 and RB300 are among the most widely used tonearms ever made and appear on many turntables, not only Rega’s. The shim helps them work correctly with any cartridge.
Deeper-bodied cartridges
Many third-party cartridges are taller than Rega’s. Without extra height, their rear can touch the record. The 2 mm shim provides the clearance needed.
An arm on another turntable
When an RB250 or RB300 is fitted to another make of turntable, mount height often differs. The shim corrects this so the arm sits nearly parallel to the record.
Stacking
If more lift is needed, two shims can be used together. For a total over 4 mm Rega recommends the sleeved arm nut so the mounting stays secure.
Stainless steel
The shim sits exactly where the arm meets the turntable, so its material matters.
A rigid joint
Stainless steel does not compress under the clamping force of the arm nut. The joint between arm and plinth stays rigid, as Rega insists.
Accurate thickness
The 2 mm thickness is constant across the surface, so the arm does not tilt and cartridge alignment is unaffected.
Built to last
Being stainless, it does not corrode and keeps its surface and dimensions for as long as it stays on the turntable.
Choosing the right spacer
Rega offers different spacers for each type of arm mounting. The right choice ensures secure fitting.
Nut-fixed arms
The Arm Spacer Inox is meant for arms secured by a single large central nut, such as earlier-generation RB250 and RB300 arms.
Three-point arms
Modern Rega arms (RB220, RB330, RB880, RB3000 and others) use three-point mounting and need the 3-Point VTA Spacer. This shim is not suitable for them.
Lift in 2 mm steps
Each shim raises the arm by 2 mm, and several can be stacked for more lift. Above 4 mm a sleeved arm nut is required.
