Pro-Ject X2 Black Gloss
The X2 is made for those who take great joy in the fine details, the build-quality, the high-grade materials and even more audio performance. Structurally, the X2 is supported by its large, heavy, dense and stiff MDF structure, reducing unwanted resonances to almost imperceptible levels. By adding this extra mass, the X2 is even quieter, allowing the vinyl reproduction to become more detailed and precise.
Inside, it houses a sophisticated DC/AC generator board which, combined with the convenient speed control board, delivers clean and stable power to the silent motor system. To get the best performance out of it, we have improved the motor suspension. Remaining vibrations are damped and eliminated, so they are not transmitted onto the chassis, platter and cartridge.
The X2‘s motor chassis is carefully balanced and suspended on a precision tuned TPE belt; this way the motor chassis is effectively decoupled from the main plinth for optimal performance. It is free floating, horizontally completely level and able to operate at the highest performance levels. In the X2, the motor drives a new, heavy, non-resonant Acryl platter via a sub-platter drive system and a premium grade main bearing for liquid smooth rotation. The new 9” carbon/ aluminium sandwich construction tonearm results in better internal damping.
This also means, the entire tonearm bearing is upgraded to compensate for the extra mass; altogether tracking will be more precise, stable and accurate. The increased mass makes the tonearm an excellent fit for low compliance MC cartridges. The Denon DP-3000NE is a premium direct-drive turntable with an S-shaped tonearm and a heavy wooden chassis. It accepts MM and MC cartridges with an adjustable headshell and is designed for demanding vinyl lovers.
Design and solid construction
The DP-3000NE is Denon's flagship direct-drive turntable, aimed at listeners who want a stable, fully adjustable vinyl source. It brings together the company's Japanese engineering heritage of more than 110 years and a clean yet commanding appearance that works equally well in a living room or a dedicated listening space. Every detail of its construction serves one goal: a calm, steady platform for the stylus.
Natural wood chassis
The chassis is finished in a dark ebony natural wood veneer, while the tonearm, platter and controls are metal. A total weight of 18.5 kg gives the turntable the mass it needs to stay calm in the face of external vibration, while the finish makes it part of the room's decor.
Isolating feet
The adjustable feet act as insulators, limiting resonance travelling from the furniture into the chassis. They also allow precise levelling, an essential condition for accurate groove tracing and balanced pressure on both groove walls.
Die-cast aluminium platter
The 305 mm platter is made of die-cast aluminium with an inertia of 382 kg/cm². High inertia supports steady rotation, while a miniature steel ball bearing keeps movement smooth and quiet.
Purely manual operation
Operation is manual, with a simple start and stop control. The listener cues the stylus by hand, as many vinyl enthusiasts prefer, and enjoys the ritual of playing a record, with nothing between the listener and the music but a carefully engineered mechanism.
Precision motor and tonearm
At the heart of the DP-3000NE is a direct-drive system that does away with the belt and its wear, paired with a tonearm designed to perform with a wide range of cartridges. The aim is accurate groove reading, stable pitch without fluctuation and rich detail across every kind of music.
Direct drive, no belt
A brushless motor with 16 poles and 12 coils drives the platter directly. It reaches rated speed almost instantly and holds it steady regardless of the selected speed or load. Wow and flutter is below 0.06% (JIS) and speed deviation is within ±0.3%. There is no belt to replace over the years.
SV-PWM control
The motor is governed by Space Vector PWM control, which reduces harmonics and supplies it with a continuous, reliable voltage. Rumble signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 70 dB, so quiet passages in the music remain clean.
Static balanced S-shaped arm
The S-shaped tonearm, with a 244 mm effective length, 14 mm overhang and 20.5° offset angle, suppresses vibration and keeps the tracking angle optimised across the record, with a maximum tracking error of 2.5°.
Sensitivity and headshell
Tonearm movement sensitivity is 30 mg on both the horizontal and vertical axes, so the stylus follows even the most demanding modulations without resistance. The headshell is made of aluminium, and the arm, platter and controls share the same metal construction for long-term durability.
Flexibility for any cartridge
The DP-3000NE ships without a cartridge, leaving its owner free to choose the MM or MC model that suits their system and taste. The tonearm provides every adjustment needed to get the most from that choice, today and through future upgrades.
Tonearm height adjustment
The tonearm base offers 9 mm of vertical adjustment, so the vertical tracking angle can be matched precisely to cartridges of different heights. Stylus force adjusts from 0 to 2.5 g per rotation of the counterweight, and anti-skating from 0 to 3 g, for correct balance with every combination.
Wide cartridge weight range
Without the sub-counterweight it accepts cartridges from 4 to 16 g; with it, the range extends to 14 to 26 g. The box includes a headshell, overhang gauge, mounting screws in three lengths, spacers, washers, a screwdriver and a 45 rpm adapter.
Three speeds
It plays at 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm, covering everything from modern LPs to singles and older 78 rpm records. Speeds are changed with the selector rather than by moving a belt, and the motor settles almost instantly at the new speed.
Connecting to your system
Connection is via the supplied RCA and ground cable to an external phono preamplifier or an amplifier with a phono input. Power consumption is below 4 W, and the dust cover is easily removed while listening. The turntable therefore fits into any quality system, from a simple stereo set-up to a demanding analogue installation.
