Cambridge Audio EXA100

With over three years of development and nearly 60 years of Cambridge Audio expertise, the EX Series brings technologies from the flagship Edge series to a more accessible level. EXA100 is the series’ integrated amplifier and matches the EXN100 streamer both visually and technically, for a system with a unified character.

For any system

Whether you connect a CD player, a turntable with preamp, a streamer or your TV, EXA100 brings hi-fi and home cinema together in one unit. Two pairs of speaker outputs let you cover two rooms, while pre-amp mode lets it work with an external power amplifier when you want to upgrade.

CAP protection

The CAP circuit constantly monitors temperature, current and voltage, so the amplifier runs safely even at high volume.

The EX system

Paired with the EXN100 streamer, EXA100 forms a complete system that competes with far more expensive solutions: the streamer brings every music service and the amplifier provides the power and control your speakers need.

EXA100 delivers 100 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms and 155 watts into 4 ohms, in Class A/B. This amplification provides steady power with very low harmonic distortion, below 0.002% at 1 kHz, and a damping factor above 160, for tight control even with demanding speakers.

High-quality power supply

A custom toroidal transformer ensures a stable, low-noise power supply. The transformer and heatsinks are significantly upgraded compared with CXA81, and the large heatsinks, visible through the vents on top, keep temperatures under control.

Full bandwidth

Frequency response extends from below 3 Hz to above 40 kHz (±1 dB) and signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 91 dB. The result is deep bass, balanced mids and crystal-clear highs, with every detail audible even at low volume.

Sound for long listening sessions

Low distortion and generous power reserves make EXA100’s sound relaxed even during long listening sessions. Midrange stays natural and vocals clear, while the dynamics of recordings are delivered without compression. Bi-wiring capability also lets you connect the treble and bass sections of compatible speakers separately.

EXA100 has four RCA analogue inputs and one balanced XLR for a CD player, tuner or turntable with preamp. On the digital side it offers HDMI eARC for your TV, two optical inputs, coaxial S/PDIF and asynchronous USB audio up to 384 kHz and DSD256, all through the ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC.

Wireless and private

Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD plays music from a phone or tablet in high quality, while the 6.35 mm headphone output on the front offers private listening. There is also an RCA pre-out, a subwoofer output and RS232 control for installations.

Understated, elegant design

The brushed aluminium front panel in Lunar Grey houses the knurled volume control and source buttons for simple, clear operation. Measuring 43 × 11.5 × 34.1 cm and weighing 12.8 kg, EXA100 is solid and built to last.

Thanks to HDMI eARC, your TV connects with a single cable and the sound of films and series passes through the same high-quality DAC and amplifier as your music. One system covers both hi-fi and living-room sound, with no soundbar or second amplifier.
