Leica Cine Compact 1 - A New Level of Freedom in Home Cinema.
For many years, home cinema was closely associated with a dedicated room within the house, and in truth, it was a luxury reserved for those fortunate enough to have the space for one. Enthusiasts would search for a room devoted entirely to picture and sound, complete with a large screen, a permanent installation and carefully positioned equipment.
Today, however, the way we enjoy films, television series and major sporting events has changed dramatically. The living room becomes a cinema for the evening, the bedroom turns into a place to unwind after a demanding day, and a holiday home can host an impromptu screening beneath the stars. Entertainment is no longer confined to a single space.
The new Leica Cine Compact 1 appears to have been designed specifically around this new reality. It is the most versatile projector Leica has introduced to date, combining the renowned optical expertise of the German manufacturer with a user-focused philosophy that emphasises freedom, simplicity and the everyday enjoyment of truly large-screen entertainment.

From Photography to Home Cinema
For more than a century, Leica has been creating products that shape the way we see and capture the world. In 2025, the company celebrated the 100th anniversary of the legendary Leica I, the camera that revolutionised photography and established Leica as one of the most respected names in imaging.
Its cameras have been carried by some of the most influential photographers in history, while its lenses have earned an almost mythical reputation for their sharpness, contrast and remarkably natural colour reproduction.
When Leica decided to enter the world of home cinema, many questioned whether that expertise could successfully be translated into a projector. The answer arrived with the Leica Cine 1 and later the Cine Play 1. The new Cine Compact 1 represents the next step in that journey. Not necessarily the most powerful projector in the range, nor the most extravagant, but perhaps the most contemporary in terms of its philosophy.
Cinema Changes Position
The first thing you realise when looking at the Cine Compact 1 is that it is not a traditional projector. It was not designed to be mounted permanently on a ceiling and remain there for the next decade. Instead, it was designed to move. To follow its owner from room to room, from home to holiday house, from an indoor environment to an outdoor movie night in the garden. Leica summarises this philosophy in four simple words: Every World, Every Angle. And it is difficult to imagine a more fitting description.
Every World, Every Angle
The Cine Compact 1’s greatest advantage over many of its competitors lies in its extraordinary placement flexibility. Thanks to its 360-degree rotation system, the projector can adapt to almost any viewing scenario.
- It can project onto a living room wall.
- Onto a white surface at a holiday home.
- Onto the façade of a building for an outdoor summer screening.
- Or even onto a bedroom ceiling.
Setup remains remarkably straightforward. Autofocus, automatic keystone correction, intelligent screen fitting and automatic image optimisation handle most of the work on behalf of the user. One of its greatest strengths is that there is no need to spend time dealing with complicated settings. Simply decide where you would like to enjoy your next film or major sporting event and the projector takes care of the rest.

Leica Image Quality at up to 220 Inches
In the world of portable projectors, convenience is often accompanied by compromises in image quality. Here, that seems almost unthinkable. Leica has never been a company that embraces compromise, and the Cine Compact 1 demonstrates exactly why.
The projector combines a Summicron zoom lens, a Triple RGB laser light source and Leica Image Optimization (LIO™), creating an image characterised by impressive sharpness, natural colours and a remarkable sense of depth. Its native 4K resolution is complemented by HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support, adding greater impact to both bright and dark scenes while delivering a richer, more cinematic presentation.
With brightness reaching up to 1,700 ANSI lumens, the Cine Compact 1 can be used comfortably in both indoor environments and spaces with higher levels of ambient light. Meanwhile, its ability to project images ranging from 60 inches all the way up to 220 inches gives users exceptional flexibility. From a relaxed Netflix evening to a large-scale outdoor screening beneath the night sky, the image adapts effortlessly to its surroundings.

Technology That Stays in the Background
The best products are often the ones that make you forget you are using technology at all. That appears to be exactly what Leica set out to achieve with the Cine Compact 1. The VIDAA operating system provides immediate access to services such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube without the need for any external devices.
Connectivity via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay allows seamless integration into a modern digital ecosystem, while voice control and smart-home compatibility expand the projector’s versatility even further. In simple terms, the time between switching the projector on and enjoying content is measured in seconds. And that is something users tend to appreciate more and more over time.
Designed to Live Within the Space
As with almost every Leica product, design plays a central role. The solid aluminium chassis and glass front panel create an understated sense of luxury without demanding attention. The lines are clean, timeless and free from unnecessary embellishment. Even when switched off, the Cine Compact 1 resembles a carefully considered design object more than an electronic device.
That matters in an era where technology is increasingly expected to integrate harmoniously into the spaces in which we live.
From Transport to Projection
The German manufacturer has clearly considered every aspect of the ownership experience. The Cine Compact 1 is supplied with a lightweight transport case made from recyclable EPP material, providing excellent protection while making transportation easy and convenient. Combined with its compact dimensions, 360-degree rotation system, automatic image adjustments and integrated streaming capabilities, the result is a product that feels intuitive from the very first use.
From carrying it between locations to enjoying your favourite content, every stage of the experience has been designed with simplicity and practicality in mind. EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) is a lightweight thermoplastic foam material that resembles expanded polystyrene in appearance but offers significantly greater durability and impact resistance.

Perhaps the Most “Leica” Projector Yet
There are projectors that aim to impress through specifications and numbers. The Leica Cine Compact 1 takes a different path. It was not designed around the concept of a fixed home cinema installation. It was designed around the idea of freedom. The freedom to enjoy a truly large image wherever you genuinely want to be. And perhaps that is ultimately its most compelling feature. Not the ability to project up to 220 inches. But the ability to transform almost any space into a cinematic experience within seconds.
In a way that feels unmistakably... Leica.
The Cine Compact 1 will be available from June 18th onwards.
