Marantz Cinema 60 DAB S2 Black

The Cinema 60 DAB S2 features seven discrete power amplifier stages delivering up to 100 W per channel into 8 ohms (20 Hz – 20 kHz, 0.08% distortion, 2 channels) and up to 140 W into 6 ohms at 1 kHz. That is enough to drive bookshelf or floorstanding speakers with ease, in a full 7.2 system or a 5.2.2 layout with two height speakers.

The Marantz signature

To keep the brand's signature sound, the amplifier uses a current-feedback topology with Marantz's own HDAM-SA2 circuits, carefully selected components and final tuning by the Marantz Sound Masters. The aim is to combine the energy the most spectacular soundtracks demand with precise, balanced and musical reproduction.

Films, concerts and hi-fi

As a result, the Cinema 60 DAB S2 is just as comfortable with an action film, a concert or stereo listening. The speaker terminals can be reassigned for bi-amping the front speakers, A/B speaker selection or a second zone, while two subwoofer outputs allow a dual-subwoofer system.

Full connectivity

Besides the six HDMI inputs there are four analogue RCA inputs, two optical and two coaxial digital inputs, and an MM phono input for a turntable without an external preamp. The 7.2-channel pre-outs let you add external power amplifiers later.

The digital stage is one of the big changes in Series 2: an improved 32-bit 8-channel DAC handles the conversion of all digital signals before amplification. Marantz promises greater clarity, resolution and dynamics, so both the subtlest ambient details and large level swings are reproduced faithfully.

Sound that surrounds you

Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Music, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS:X are supported. A classic 5.1 system can grow into 5.1.2 or 5.2.2 with ceiling speakers or Atmos modules, while Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X create a sense of height even without height speakers. Dolby Surround and DTS Neural:X spread older soundtracks across all your speakers.

Calibration for your room

Using the supplied microphone, Audyssey MultEQ XT measures the speakers from several listening positions and adjusts level, delay and equalisation. Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume keep the sound balanced at low volume and control large level differences. For more detailed correction, the Cinema 60 DAB S2 is compatible with Dirac Live, with an additional licence. You can choose between the simplicity of the built-in Audyssey and the more advanced settings of Dirac Live, which corrects the system's response to the room with greater precision.

Of the six HDMI inputs, three offer up to 40 Gbps for 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz. Two HDMI outputs connect, for example, a TV and a projector at the same time, and the main output supports eARC. HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG and Dynamic HDR are supported, with upscaling to 8K.

Built for the latest consoles

4K at 120 Hz gives very smooth motion, VRR syncs the display with the console to prevent tearing, and ALLM and QFT reduce latency. HDMI inputs 4 to 6 support AMD FreeSync.

Streaming and radio

HEOS gives you Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer and TuneIn, with Roon Ready, AirPlay 2 and multi-room throughout the home. It plays FLAC, WAV and ALAC up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD 2.8 and 5.6 MHz. The DAB/DAB+ and FM tuner with RDS brings digital radio, and Bluetooth can also send the sound to wireless headphones, with independent volume control.

For custom installs

For custom integration there are an IR input, Marantz remote bus, trigger output and IP and RS-232 control, while the RC054SR remote is backlit for use in the dark.
