7.2-channel AV amplifier with 8K, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, HEOS and dual zone

The Denon AVC-X2850H is a 7.2-channel home cinema amplifier with 95 W per channel, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. It offers 8K HDMI, HEOS for whole-home streaming and two zones, for films and music in the living room.

An amplifier for films and music

Designed for those who want a complete home cinema system in the living room without sacrificing music listening. Seven channels of amplification, generous power and full support for current picture and sound formats come together in a chassis that suits any cabinet.

Flexible 7.2 layout

The seven built-in amplifiers drive a classic 7.2 system or a layout of up to 5.2.2 with height speakers for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Two subwoofer outputs spread bass more evenly, which is especially useful in spacious living rooms with several seats.

Power for large rooms

Rated power reaches 95 W per channel into 8 ohms (20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.08% THD, two channels driven), with support for speakers from 4 to 16 ohms. That means ease in the explosions of a film and steady control over larger floorstanding speakers, even at higher listening levels.

Bi-amp for the main pair

In smaller layouts, the spare amplifiers can be used to drive the front speakers in bi-amp mode, improving clarity and control in stereo listening.

Tuned by Denon

Denon puts the emphasis on musicality: the sound is rich and dynamic, with natural voices and a wide stage, so the amplifier performs equally well with a film and a favourite album.

Practical dimensions

At 434 mm wide, 167 mm high and 330 mm deep, it fits easily on a standard shelf, and in standby it draws only 0.1 W, so it can stay ready on the network.

Picture and sound technology

The processing platform is ready for every current-generation source, from consoles to video streaming services, and adapts the sound to the specific acoustics of each room.

HDMI 2.1 and 8K

Six HDMI inputs, three of them supporting 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz, and two outputs, one with eARC. Older sources can be upscaled to 8K, and eARC returns high-resolution sound, including object-based formats, from the TV apps.

HDR in every form

Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dynamic HDR are supported, so every source, from a 4K Blu-ray to a streaming app, reaches the screen with the right brightness and colour range.

Gaming without lag

VRR, ALLM, QFT and QMS reduce picture latency and remove tearing, so consoles can be connected to the amplifier with no compromise in responsiveness, while the game sound is decoded in full surround.

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X

Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X and DTS-HD Master Audio are decoded. Dolby Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X give a sense of height without ceiling speakers, and DTS Neural:X expands stereo sources.

Audyssey calibration

Audyssey MultEQ XT with an external microphone adapts the response to the room, while Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume keep the sound balanced at low volume. Adjustable crossover frequencies and distance settings allow speakers and subwoofer to blend seamlessly.

Streaming and multiple zones

The amplifier covers all the music in the home, with built-in networking, a multiroom platform and the ability to play a different source in a second room.

HEOS and streaming services

HEOS gives direct access to Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz Connect, Deezer, Amazon Music and TuneIn, and sound can be shared with compatible speakers throughout the home, all controlled from the HEOS app.

AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth

AirPlay 2 enables playback from iPhone, iPad and Mac, while Bluetooth works both ways: it receives music from a phone and sends sound to wireless headphones, with volume control.

High-resolution files

Over Wi-Fi or Ethernet and DLNA it plays FLAC, ALAC and WAV files up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD up to 5.6 MHz, directly from a home server or NAS. Your digital library is heard at the resolution in which it is stored.

Two zones, two sources

The second zone can play a different source from the main one, either through speaker terminals or via a stereo RCA pre-out to an external amplifier. A film in the living room and music in the kitchen can run side by side, with no second device needed.

Vinyl and control

The MM phono input accepts a turntable directly, with no external preamplifier, and two optical digital inputs cover CD players and other digital sources. Control comes from the app or voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri.
