9 x 110 W with the Marantz signature

The Cinema 50 S2 features nine discrete power amplifier stages delivering up to 110 W per channel into 8 ohms (20 Hz – 20 kHz, 0.08% distortion, 2 channels) and up to 150 W into 6 ohms at 1 kHz. That energy drives large floorstanding speakers as easily as bookshelf models, with plenty of dynamics on the most demanding soundtracks.

Technology from Marantz hi-fi

As in the brand's stereo components, the amplifier uses a current-feedback topology with Marantz's own HDAM-SA2 circuits, carefully selected components and a jitter reduction circuit. Every unit is tuned by the Marantz Sound Masters for sound rich in detail and musicality.

From cinema to music

The Cinema 50 S2 delivers a film soundtrack with intensity and a musical work with nuance. The eleven gold-plated speaker terminals can be assigned for bi-amping the front speakers or for a second listening zone, and five analogue inputs, including an MM phono input, also cover your home hi-fi.

11.4 channels, Auro-3D and IMAX Enhanced

With nine channels of amplification and processing up to 11.4, you can build Dolby Atmos in 5.4.4 or 7.4.2 directly. Adding an external power amplifier to the 11.4 pre-outs takes you to even more immersive layouts, such as 7.4.4. Four independent subwoofer outputs and directional subwoofer management deliver more even bass throughout the room.

Every immersive format

Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Music, DTS-HD and DTS:X are supported, along with Auro-3D, IMAX Enhanced and 360 Reality Audio. Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X create a sense of height when some speakers are missing. The new improved 32-bit DAC brings clarity, resolution and dynamics to music too.

Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and Dirac Live

Using the supplied microphone, Audyssey MultEQ XT32 measures the speakers from several positions and sets levels, distances and equalisation, while Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume keep the sound balanced at low volume. With an additional licence, Dirac Live offers even more advanced room correction.

8K, gaming and HEOS

All six HDMI inputs pass 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz with up to 40 Gbps, for a TV, projector, UHD Blu-ray player, consoles and a network player. Three HDMI outputs, one of them for Zone 2, and eARC brings the TV's high-resolution audio back to the receiver. HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG and Dynamic HDR are supported, with upscaling to 8K.

For gaming

4K at 120 Hz gives very smooth motion, VRR syncs the display with the source, and ALLM, QFT and AMD FreeSync reduce latency.

Streaming with HEOS

HEOS gives you Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer and TuneIn, with Roon Ready, AirPlay 2 and multi-room throughout the home. It plays FLAC, WAV and ALAC up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD 2.8 and 5.6 MHz gaplessly, while Bluetooth can also send the sound to wireless headphones for a late-night film.
