An AV amplifier for those building a serious screening room or a living room without compromise. Eleven channels of powerful amplification, four independent subwoofer outputs and 13.4 pre-outs provide the infrastructure for the most complex immersive layouts, from a unit designed and built in Japan.

Eleven channels of amplification

The built-in amplification covers layouts up to 7.4.4, with four height speakers for a full dome of sound. No external power amplifier is needed to build a complete, high-level Dolby Atmos or DTS:X system.

Power with real headroom

Each channel delivers 140 W into 8 ohms (20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.08% THD, two channels driven). This keeps large floorstanding speakers under control and reproduces the dynamic peaks of soundtracks without strain.

Four independent subwoofers

Each of the four subwoofer outputs has its own bass management. The subwoofers are adjusted separately, so the low end is even and controlled across every seat in the room.

A chassis with substance

Weighing 15.6 kg and measuring 434 × 167 × 389 mm, the chassis reflects the solid construction of a unit intended for years of service in demanding installations. Despite its size, it fits a standard rack or cabinet.

Despite its cinema focus, the amplifier keeps the musicality Denon is known for, with rich tone, natural voices and a stable stage in stereo listening too.

The processor supports every major immersive audio and video format and comes with calibration tools that allow fine adjustment of the system to any room.

Every immersive format

Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Music, DTS:X, Auro-3D, IMAX Enhanced and 360 Reality Audio are decoded. DTS Neural:X and DTS Virtual:X expand conventional sources, while MDAX2 improves compressed audio from streaming services.

Audyssey MultEQ XT32

Audyssey MultEQ XT32 calibration measures multiple points in the room with the supplied microphone. Sub EQ HT and LFC take care of the subwoofers and bass, and the MultEQ Editor app allows detailed manual adjustment.

Dirac Live option

Following a firmware update the amplifier can accept Dirac Live, at optional extra cost, for advanced frequency and time-domain correction that sharpens imaging and tightens bass.

HDMI 2.1 with seven inputs

Seven inputs and three HDMI outputs with HDCP 2.3 and eARC, with 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz on two outputs. Video is upscaled to 8K, with Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dynamic HDR.

Demanding gaming

VRR, ALLM and QFT reduce latency and smooth motion on new-generation consoles, without the signal ever leaving the amplifier.

TV, projector and analogue sources

Multiple HDMI outputs allow a TV and a projector to be driven at the same time. Older analogue video sources are also converted to HDMI, so the whole system is controlled from a single on-screen menu.

Beyond the cinema, the amplifier is designed to fit into complete installations, with multiple zones, full streaming and control ports for automation systems.

13.4 pre-outs

The 13.4 pre-outs allow external power amplifiers to be connected, to expand to more channels or to drive the front speakers more powerfully.

HEOS and wireless music

HEOS gives access to Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Deezer, TuneIn and other services, with multiroom throughout the home. AirPlay 2, two-way Bluetooth and dual-band Wi-Fi or Ethernet are supported, so music is always one tap away.

Hi-Res and vinyl

It plays FLAC, ALAC and WAV files up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD up to 5.6 MHz from the network or USB. An MM phono input, two optical and two coaxial inputs cover all classic sources, from turntable to CD player.

Three zones

Zone 2 and Zone 3 outputs carry music to other rooms, and one of the HDMI outputs can send a picture to a second space.

Integration with automation

Three trigger outputs, an RS-232C port, IR in and out and network control allow integration into professional control systems. Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri are also supported.

For the installer

Separate configuration of zones, outputs and subwoofers, combined with the control ports, makes the amplifier a solid basis for custom integration projects in homes and screening rooms, where reliability and flexibility matter as much as sound.
