Denon AVC-A1H 15.4 Black

The amplifier at the top of Denon’s AV range, designed for dedicated screening rooms and installations where immersive sound must be delivered without any limitation. Fifteen channels of amplification in a 32 kg chassis, with construction closer to separates than to a typical AV amplifier.

Fifteen channels in one chassis

The built-in amplification drives up to 15 speakers, enough for a 9.4.6 layout with no external power stage. Six height speakers, together with nine speakers at ear level, create a continuous dome of sound around and above the audience.

Independent amplifier channels

Each channel has its own separate amplifier stage, with left and right channels kept apart. This architecture limits interaction between channels and keeps the image clean even when every speaker is working at once.

Power with precision

Each channel delivers 150 W into 8 ohms (20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.05% THD, two channels driven) and 190 W into 6 ohms. Low distortion at rated power points to amplification designed for clarity, not just volume.

Uncompromising construction

Weighing 32 kg, with a metal front panel and measuring 434 × 498 × 195 mm, the amplifier is built for long-term operation in demanding rooms and installations where it runs for many hours a day.

For pure music too

Pure Direct mode bypasses circuits that are not needed, for the most direct signal path in stereo listening, letting the amplifier act as a high-quality stereo amplifier as well.

15.4-channel processing supports every current immersive audio format and comes with calibration tools for precise adaptation to any room.

Every format

Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Music, DTS:X, DTS:X Pro, Auro-3D, IMAX Enhanced and 360 Reality Audio (MPEG-H) are decoded. DTS Neural:X works across 15 channels, so conventional sources also use every speaker.

32-bit digital processing

32-bit processing, together with AL32 Processing and jitter reduction, delivers detail and a quiet background. The Compressed Audio Restorer improves compressed sources such as streaming and internet radio.

Four subwoofers with their own settings

Each of the four subwoofer outputs has independent bass management, with options for directional or synchronised bass. The low end is tuned precisely for even response across every row of seats.

Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and Dirac Live

Audyssey MultEQ XT32, with LFC, Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume, calibrates the system using the supplied microphone. As an upgrade following a firmware update, Dirac Live is also available, possibly at extra cost.

Flexible channel assignment

The 15 amplifier channels can be assigned flexibly: to a large immersive layout, to bi-amping the front speakers, or to speakers in other zones. With A/B selection, two different sets of speakers can be connected at the same time, so the same amplifier serves both a cinema room and stereo listening.

The amplifier is completed by full video, network and control infrastructure, so it can become the core of a professional installation.

HDMI 2.1 and 8K

Seven HDMI inputs and three outputs, the two main ones supporting 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz and the third serving Zone 2. HDCP 2.3, eARC, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG and Dynamic HDR are supported, with 8K upscaling and ALLM and VRR for gaming.

Balanced input and vinyl

Seven stereo RCA inputs, one also offering a balanced XLR connection, plus an MM phono input. The front panel has a 6.35 mm headphone output and a USB port.

HEOS and streaming

The HEOS platform offers Spotify Connect, TuneIn and multiroom, with AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, DLNA and Roon Tested support. FLAC, ALAC and WAV files up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD up to 5.6 MHz, over dual-band Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Three zones

Zone 2 and Zone 3 take sound from HDMI, digital, analogue or network sources, via speaker terminals or pre-outs.

Control for integrators

IP control, RS-232, trigger outputs and IR in/out allow full integration with automation systems, while the programmable learning remote with LCD screen makes everyday use easy.

Voice and apps

The amplifier works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomePod, while the HEOS app and the web interface allow control and setup from a phone or computer, without needing the screen in the room.
