The control centre of a serious home cinema

The Marantz AV 20 is an 13.4-channel AV preamplifier-processor built for large media rooms and dedicated home cinemas. It supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Auro-3D and IMAX Enhanced, has seven HDMI 2.1 inputs for 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz, balanced (XLR) and RCA pre-outs on every channel, and integrates HEOS streaming. A toroidal transformer and a reinforced, copper-plated chassis keep interference away. It pairs ideally with the AMP 20 power amplifiers.

A reference for large systems

The AV 20 is designed to sit at the heart of a high-end home cinema. It processes up to 13.4 channels, allowing layouts such as 9.4.4 or 11.4.2 for height channels, and drives any power amplifier you choose through 15.4-channel pre-outs on balanced XLR as well as RCA.

Four subwoofers, three zones

Four independent subwoofer outputs help deliver more even bass throughout the room, while Zone 2 and Zone 3 outputs bring music to other spaces. Seven analogue RCA inputs, one of them phono for a turntable, plus two optical and two coaxial digital inputs cover every source, from a CD/SACD player to a streamer.

The Marantz sound

A powerful toroidal transformer, current-feedback circuits and Marantz's own HDAM modules in the preamp stage deliver dynamics and transparency, while the reinforced copper-plated chassis blocks interference so no detail is lost, with warm, natural and balanced sound. Final tuning is done by the Marantz Sound Master.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Auro-3D and IMAX Enhanced

The latest-generation audio processor decodes every variant of Dolby and DTS, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, as well as Auro-3D. From DVD and UHD Blu-ray to Netflix, every soundtrack is decoded by the AV 20, while Dolby Atmos Height and DTS Virtual:X create virtual spatial sound even with 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1 systems.

IMAX Enhanced

The AV 20 is IMAX Enhanced certified: it automatically detects films remastered in this format and adapts its settings for DTS:X sound faithful to the creator's mix.

Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and Dirac Live

Using the supplied microphone, Audyssey MultEQ XT32 measures every speaker and corrects the room's acoustic problems for more precise and balanced sound. Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume keep the sound balanced at low volume, and with an optional licence the AV 20 also accepts Dirac Live.

8K, gaming and streaming

The seven HDMI 2.1 inputs pass 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, and two of the three outputs support 8K, with one offering eARC. Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dynamic HDR are supported, with upscaling of 1080p and 4K content to 8K.

Built for consoles

VRR, QFT and ALLM reduce or eliminate lag and image tearing, for very smooth gaming at a steady frame rate.

High-resolution streaming

Connected via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, the AV 20 plays music from your local network via DLNA, with FLAC, ALAC and WAV up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD 2.8 and 5.6 MHz. HEOS gives you Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, Apple Music and internet radio, with multi-room throughout the home, and AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth are also supported.
