Rega's entry-level turntable that sets up in under a minute
Your first taste of high fidelity
The Replay is Rega's new entry-level turntable, and the company itself calls it the audiophile gateway drug. It was developed over three years, building on more than 50 years of Rega experience, and is hand-built in England. Its aim is to remove the complexity that puts many people off vinyl, offering detailed, dynamic sound and completely straightforward operation. In Rega's range it sits just below the Planar 1, with which it shares its tonearm and cartridge.
Lid, speeds and power
The removable dust cover follows the skeletal outline of the turntable and has a device that holds it securely in place. Selecting 33⅓ or 45 rpm is done manually by moving the belt on the pulley, and Rega also offers an adaptor for 45 rpm singles. The turntable is powered by the Rega PS2 power supply (100 mA).
What you need to play
The tonearm cable ends in RCA plugs for connection to a phono stage or an amplifier with an MM phono input. Rega recommends the Fono Mini A2D phono stage, which also has a USB output for digitising records, or the Io and Brio amplifiers with built-in phono inputs, and KYTE loudspeakers to complete the system.
Set up in a minute
For many people, the hardest part of owning a turntable is setting it up: balancing the arm, setting tracking force, adjusting anti-skating. The Replay removes all of it, without sacrificing the quality you expect from Rega.
Five simple steps
Take the turntable out of the box, slide the balance weight fully onto the back of the tonearm, connect the tonearm leads to your amplifier or phono stage, remove the stylus guard and cue the arm onto the record. Rega estimates the whole process takes less than a minute. There is no arm balancing and no bias adjustment.
The RB110 tonearm
The secret lies in the latest RB110, the tonearm also used on the Planar 1. It has bespoke, patented ultra-low-friction bearings and a bias that is preset at the factory. The 111 g balance weight is designed for plug & play operation: once it is pushed fully home, tracking force is automatically correct for the Carbon cartridge.
New headshell
The headshell has been redesigned to be easier to handle and more elegant in appearance. It makes lowering the stylus onto the right point of the record easier and more confident, even for those using a turntable for the very first time, so the focus stays on the music rather than the mechanics.
Designed for the music
Rega describes the Replay as a turntable engineered from the ground up for genuine audio performance, so you can hear your favourite albums the way the artist intended. Its tagline sums it up: Whatever you play, Replay.
Skeletal plinth and bearing
Instead of a conventional solid slab, the Replay uses a skeletal plinth that follows the outline of the platter and tonearm. It is an approach familiar from the company's more expensive Planar models, applied here to a very affordable turntable.
Low mass, high rigidity
The plinth is a laminate with a black MDF core, designed to balance stiffness with low mass. As with every Rega turntable, the logic is simple: a light yet rigid base stores less energy, so fewer vibrations reach the stylus. The result is stable performance and cleaner sound, with better-defined bass and a quieter background between notes.
Central bearing
The central bearing housing carries a high-performance brass bearing, sealed at the factory. Rega says its design, which is patent pending, improves fit, removes stress from the bearing and minimises energy transfer. It is designed to stay in place and perform consistently over time.
Isolation
The Replay's new feet improve stability and reduce the transfer of vibration from the supporting surface into the plinth. Together with the skeletal construction, they help the turntable perform properly even on ordinary furniture, without the need for a dedicated hi-fi rack or wall shelf.
Compact and light
Measuring 41.5 x 11.5 x 32 cm with the lid fitted and weighing just 2.2 kg, the Replay fits easily on a shelf or next to a pair of loudspeakers such as the KYTE, without the need for special furniture or a large equipment rack.
Platter, motor and Carbon cartridge
Stable rotation and a correctly aligned cartridge are the two things that separate a basic record player from a true hi-fi turntable. On the Replay, both arrive ready from the factory.
23 mm phenolic platter
The platter is made of 23 mm phenolic resin, with higher mass and an improved flywheel effect for better speed stability. The custom white mat has a different texture on each side: the textured side grips the platter surface, so the mat and record stay firmly in place.
24 V motor module
The 24 V synchronous AC motor is designed by Rega for low noise and low vibration. It is integrated into a module that includes a new PCB, a CNC-machined aluminium pulley, a power switch, a power input, a rear foot and internal ventilation. Drive is transferred to the platter by an EBLT belt.
Rega Carbon cartridge
The Carbon moving magnet cartridge is carefully fitted and aligned at the factory for correct performance from the very first record. Its stylus is easy to replace, and Rega also offers the Carbon Pro upgrade stylus for anyone who wants an extra step in quality without changing the cartridge, making the Replay a turntable that can grow with you.
Simple connection
The RCA phono cable has an internal earth via the left channel, so there is no separate earth lead to connect. All you need is an MM phono input, such as the one on the Rega Io or Brio amplifiers or the Fono Mini A2D, and the turntable is ready to play.
