Active 30 cm / 300 W bass-reflex subwoofer
The Elipson Classic Sub 12 is an active bass-reflex subwoofer built to add depth and weight to a hi-fi or home cinema system. It combines a 30 cm (12-inch) woofer with a fibreglass cone and 300 W of Class D amplification, with a frequency response reaching down to 25 Hz.
It is the most powerful and deepest-reaching model in the Classic Sub range, designed for those who want to physically feel the most intense film effects. A +6 dB digital boost at 33 Hz reinforces the deepest frequencies, while the crossover (40–160 Hz) and phase controls make it easy to blend with your main speakers in large rooms and demanding home cinema systems.
30 cm driver and 300 W
At the heart of the Elipson Classic Sub 12 is a 30 cm (12-inch) woofer with a fibreglass cone. The material is both stiff and light, so the cone moves quickly and with precision. The result is tight, fast bass that follows the rhythm of a music recording and the most spectacular film effects with equal ease, without losing clarity.
300 W Class D amplification
To get the most out of the driver, the subwoofer has a built-in 300 W Class D amplifier. Class D technology offers high efficiency and plenty of power in reserve for the cone’s long excursions, so percussion keeps its dynamics, bass lines gain weight and home cinema explosions carry real impact.
Bass-reflex design
The bass-reflex cabinet uses its port to extend the response further down. The Elipson Classic Sub 12 covers 25 to 160 Hz (±3 dB), effectively complementing speakers that cannot reach that low on their own and giving the whole system a fuller, more natural foundation.
With 300 W of power and a 30 cm driver, the Elipson Classic Sub 12 is ideal for large rooms and demanding home cinema systems. It adds the low-end energy that is missing, so a double bass gains body, a kick drum gains punch and a soundtrack gains its full cinematic scale, without the bass becoming bloated or masking the midrange.
DSP boost at 33 Hz
For an even greater sense of depth, the Elipson Classic Sub 12 features a DSP circuit that applies a +6 dB boost centred on 33 Hz. This targeted reinforcement gives more presence to the very lowest frequencies, where film effects or an electronic bass line become something you feel rather than just hear.
Subsonic filter at 23 Hz
At the same time, a fixed 23 Hz subsonic filter with a 12 dB/octave slope removes extremely low frequencies that the driver could not reproduce usefully. This protects the cone from unnecessary excursion and keeps the subwoofer under control even in the most demanding passages.
Depth with control
Together, the boost and the subsonic filter make the most of the 30 cm driver: more depth where it matters, without losing control. The bass stays full and physical, yet clean and well defined, with music and films alike.
The boost is not simply a louder low end: it acts on a specific region below the subwoofer’s nominal response, where you find the chest-thumping impact of action scenes and the pressure of deep synths in electronic music. You gain a real sense of infrabass without needing a larger cabinet.
Easy hi-fi and home cinema integration
The Elipson Classic Sub 12 offers a variable crossover from 40 to 160 Hz. You can set precisely where the subwoofer takes over, depending on how low your main speakers reach, for a natural transition with no gaps or excess in the bass.
Phase control 0° / 180°
A 0° / 180° phase switch helps when the subwoofer’s position in the room creates a phase difference with the main speakers. With one move the bass is aligned with the rest of the system, making placement easier in both stereo and home cinema setups.
Inputs, output and auto standby
For connection to hi-fi amplifiers and AV receivers, it provides a pair of low-level RCA L/R line inputs that also work as an LFE input, plus a stereo line output to link a second subwoofer or another device. The auto standby function puts it to sleep when no signal is present, so it can stay connected permanently without wasting power.
Thanks to this flexibility, the Elipson Classic Sub 12 connects easily to most hi-fi amplifiers and AV receivers: through the line inputs in a stereo system, or through the receiver’s subwoofer (LFE) output in a home cinema. The stereo line output also allows a dual-subwoofer setup for more even bass throughout the room.
