Denon Heos Drive HS2

The Denon HEOS Drive HS2 is an 8-channel amplifier for up to 4 zones, with built-in HEOS streaming. It is designed for professional installers, delivering whole-home audio from a single rack.

Designed for professional installers

The HEOS Drive HS2 is Denon's answer to the needs of custom integration installers. In a single chassis it combines amplification, streaming and audio distribution for up to four independent zones, so an entire home can be served by one device.

2U chassis for 19-inch racks

The amplifier is 88 mm high, equivalent to two rack units. With the supplied rack ears, the width reaches 483 mm to suit any standard 19-inch rack, while without them it can sit on a shelf.

One device instead of many

Instead of four separate amplifiers and four streamers, the HEOS Drive HS2 serves the kitchen, living room, bedrooms or outdoor areas from a single point. The rack stays tidy and wiring is greatly simplified.

Robust construction

Weighing 7.2 kg and measuring 430 x 88 x 402 mm without rack ears, the amplifier is built for continuous operation in residential and commercial installations. It runs on 100–240 V and at temperatures from 5 to 35 °C.

Status at a glance

Front-panel LEDs show the power state, the link on each Ethernet port and which zones are active. The installer or user can check the state of the system immediately without opening the app.

Restaurants, shops, offices and multi-room homes all benefit from a solution that delivers different music to each zone or the same music everywhere, under unified control.

Eight channels of Class D amplification

The HEOS Drive HS2 has eight channels of Class D amplification, arranged as four stereo pairs. Each zone has its own amplification and its own source, for complete independence between rooms.

60 W per channel

Each channel delivers 60 W into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 0.05% distortion, with all channels driven. This specification ensures dependable performance even when every zone is playing at once.

Bridging for more power

In bridged mode, two channels combine to deliver 130 W. A zone with a larger space or more demanding speakers, such as an outdoor area or a large living room, gains the headroom it needs.

Pre-amp outputs per zone

Four stereo pairs of pre-amp outputs allow you to connect external power amplifiers, active speakers or subwoofers. The system can therefore scale beyond its internal amplification, for spaces such as function rooms or large terraces.

Dolby Digital support

The amplifier supports Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus, along with MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC and WAV files, covering the formats found in streaming and local music collections.

Efficient operation

The efficiency of Class D amplification limits heat inside the rack, which matters when the amplifier is installed in a closed equipment cabinet alongside other devices. Lower thermal load also helps the longevity of all the equipment.

Streaming, zones and expansion

The HEOS platform turns the HEOS Drive HS2 into a music distribution hub for the whole home. Users control each zone from the HEOS app, while installers have a system that is easy to expand.

Four independent zones

Each zone can play a different source or be grouped with the others so the same music plays in every space. It takes just a few taps on a phone or tablet. Each zone can be switched on or off independently, so only the rooms in use are playing.

A USB port for every zone

Four USB ports, one per zone, accept memory sticks or drives of music. Each room can thus have its own local library, independent of the internet. This is also practical for commercial spaces with a defined music selection.

Dual Ethernet

Two RJ-45 ports provide a stable wired network connection, as a professional installation demands. Internet access opens up streaming and firmware updates that keep the system current over time.

Music services

Through HEOS, each zone has access to Spotify, TuneIn, Deezer, TIDAL, Amazon Music and other services, depending on availability in your country, as well as music from a NAS on the local network.

An expandable HEOS system

The HEOS Drive HS2 works with HEOS speakers, soundbars, amplifiers and AV receivers. A second unit adds four more zones, so the system can cover even the largest residences. Existing HEOS products in the home join the same system and are controlled from the same app.
