A new era of Hi-Fi from Yamaha
The Yamaha GT-5000 draws on the legendary turntables of the golden age of Hi-Fi and continues that heritage in the pursuit of pure musicality. With a straight short tonearm for absolute transparency, a balanced signal path for pure transmission and construction of high craftsmanship, it delivers a sound for both the ears and the soul.
No cartridge
The GT-5000 is supplied without a cartridge, so you can choose the one that suits your system.
Straight short tonearm
The heart of the GT-5000 is the straight short arm, a Yamaha choice for absolute transparency and open sound.
Why straight and short
The statically balanced straight tonearm with an effective length of 223 mm minimises resonance and losses, so the cartridge tracks the groove with great accuracy. The result is clean, lively sound with natural dynamics.
Cartridge compatibility
The arm accepts cartridges weighing 13.5 – 36 g (including headshell, with a sub-weight for 25 – 36 g), and the headshell weighs 14 g. You can use a wide range of high-quality MM and MC cartridges.
5 kg platter and belt drive
Stable rotation is the foundation of clean vinyl sound.
Aluminium and brass platter
The heavy 5 kg platter combines a machined aluminium outer section 35 cm in diameter with a brass inner section 14.3 cm in diameter. Its high inertia ensures stable speed and suppresses vibration.
Crystal sine wave AC synchronous motor
The AC synchronous motor is driven by a crystal sine wave oscillator, for speed variation of just 0.1% and wow and flutter below 0.04%. The 33⅓ and 45 rpm speeds are finely adjustable in 0.1% steps, and a strobe output helps with checking.
Balanced output and GT design
The GT-5000 combines classic GT design with a modern, fully balanced signal path.
Balanced from cartridge to speakers
The balanced XLR output allows fully balanced signal processing from the cartridge to the speakers, combined with amplifiers such as the A-S3200 or C-5000. There is also an unbalanced RCA output for any phono preamp.
High-end construction
The distinctive GT series design, glossy piano finish and 26.5 kg weight express absolute quality in craftsmanship and construction. Dimensions 54.6 × 22.1 × 41.1 cm.
