The original Carbon stylus
The Rega Carbon Stylus is the genuine replacement stylus for the Rega Carbon moving magnet cartridge, the cartridge factory-fitted to the Planar 1, Planar 1 Plus and Planar 2 turntables. It has the same conical profile as the stylus supplied with the cartridge from the factory, so it restores the Carbon to exactly the sound and performance it had when new.
When to replace it
A stylus is a consumable part that wears gradually with every play. A worn stylus loses detail and clarity, adds distortion, especially in the inner grooves, and over time can put stress on your records. Replacing it in good time protects your collection and keeps the turntable in the best possible condition. And if the stylus is damaged in an accident, replacing it costs far less than a new cartridge.

Removal
The old stylus is removed by gently pulling its plastic housing outwards. The cartridge stays screwed in place and set up on the tonearm, so neither alignment nor tracking force is lost.
Fitting
The new stylus is inserted at a slight angle and pressed until it clicks into place. That is all: the turntable is ready to play again with the performance it had when it was new.
