The Rega Carbon Pro Stylus is an upgrade stylus that replaces the standard stylus of the Rega Carbon moving magnet cartridge. In place of the original conical profile, it offers a bonded elliptical stylus that reads the groove more precisely and delivers better dynamics and more detail. Rega recommends it as a cost-effective upgrade for the Planar 1, Planar 1 Plus and Planar 2 turntables with their factory Carbon cartridge, and for any Carbon cartridge fitted to another turntable.
Fitted in seconds
The upgrade takes just seconds, with no tools and no need to remove the cartridge from the tonearm. Remove the old stylus by gently pulling its plastic housing, then insert the new one at an angle until it clicks into place. The cartridge stays aligned, and the recommended tracking force remains 2 to 3 g.
Ideal as a replacement too
When the time comes to replace a worn Carbon stylus, the Carbon Pro is a smart choice: for a small difference in cost, your turntable does not just return to its original performance, it surpasses it.
From conical to elliptical
The heart of the upgrade is the shape of the diamond that touches the record.
Narrower contact
A conical stylus has a rounded tip that cannot fully reach into the finest undulations of the groove. The elliptical profile of the Carbon Pro contacts the walls over a narrower area and follows more faithfully the tiny movements that encode the high frequencies.

Three simple steps
Gently pull the plastic housing of the old stylus to remove it. Insert the Carbon Pro at a slight angle. Press it until it clicks into place.
No new setup
Because the cartridge stays screwed to the tonearm, alignment is preserved. Tracking force remains within the 2 to 3 g range, so you can hear the difference straight away.
