7.2 AV receiver with 8K, optional Dirac Live, HEOS and DAB+ radio
The Denon AVR-X2900H DAB is a 7.2-channel home cinema receiver with 95 W per channel, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and 8K HDMI. It offers HEOS, DAB+ radio and an optional Dirac Live upgrade, for a living room with films, gaming and music.
Power and flexibility for the living room
A receiver that sits at the sweet spot of the Denon X series: powerful enough for large living rooms, flexible enough to grow with your system. Seven independent amplifiers, advanced video processing and full streaming come together in a classic-sized chassis.
Seven amplifiers, two subwoofers
The 7.2 configuration allows a seven-channel system or a 5.2.2 layout with height speakers for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Two independent subwoofer outputs make bass more even across every listening position in the room.
Power for demanding speakers
Each channel delivers 95 W into 8 ohms (20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.08% THD, two channels driven) and accepts speakers from 4 to 16 ohms. This gives comfortable headroom for the dynamic peaks of film soundtracks and confident control of floorstanding speakers.
Bi-amp for the main pair
When not all channels are used for surround, the spare amplifiers can drive the front speakers in a bi-amp connection, giving more control and clarity in stereo listening.
The Denon character
Delivery is full and dynamic, with clear dialogue and a stable soundstage. The receiver is tuned to render an action film and an acoustic album with equal conviction, without fatigue over long listening sessions.
Build and dimensions
At 434 mm wide, 167 mm high, 330 mm deep and weighing 9.5 kg, the receiver fits any standard cabinet, and in standby it draws only 0.1 W, so it can stay connected to the network at all times.
8K video, gaming and calibration
The technical foundation covers every modern picture and sound source, with particular care for gaming and for adapting the sound correctly to each room.
HDMI 2.1 with two outputs
Six HDMI inputs, three of them supporting 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz, and two HDMI outputs with eARC, so a TV and a projector can be connected at the same time. The video circuit upscales up to 8K, with HDCP 2.3.
HDR and next-gen gaming
Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dynamic HDR are supported. For gamers there is VRR, ALLM, QFT, QMS, AMD FreeSync and 1440p support, for instant response and smooth motion, without needing to connect the console directly to the TV.
Immersive sound
Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X and DTS-HD Master Audio are decoded. Dolby Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X add a sense of height without ceiling speakers, while DTS Neural:X spreads stereo sources across all speakers.
Audyssey and Dirac Live
Basic calibration uses Audyssey MultEQ XT and the supplied microphone, together with Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume. For even more detailed room correction, a Dirac Live licence can be purchased separately.
One cable to the screen
Console, Blu-ray player, set-top box and streaming device all connect to the receiver, which sends the picture to the display and keeps the sound in the full speaker system. Audio return via eARC also covers the TV apps, with high-resolution sound and no compromise.
Streaming, radio and zones
The receiver works as a complete music hub for the whole home, with built-in streaming services, digital radio and a generous set of analogue and digital inputs.
HEOS, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth
The HEOS platform offers Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz Connect, Deezer, Amazon Music and TuneIn, with playback across multiple rooms. AirPlay 2 serves Apple devices, and two-way Bluetooth with LE Audio can also send sound to wireless headphones.
Hi-Res and Roon
Over Wi-Fi or Ethernet it plays FLAC, ALAC and WAV files up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD up to 5.6 MHz. The unit is Roon Tested for direct integration into a Roon system, alongside DLNA playback from a home media server.
Vinyl and classic sources
Four analogue RCA inputs and an MM phono input cover turntables, CD players and other analogue sources. There are also two optical and one coaxial digital input.
DAB+ digital radio
The built-in tuner receives FM and DAB/DAB+, for radio with clean sound and station information on the display. Favourite stations can be stored for quick recall.
A second zone
The Zone 2 output sends stereo sound to another room, either through the speaker terminals or via a preamplified RCA output to an external amplifier.
Control from your phone
The HEOS app brings sources, volume and zones together on your phone or tablet, so you can pick music and control every room without switching on the TV.
