The Yamaha HA-L7A is Yamaha's first high-end headphone amplifier. It combines the company's Hi-Fi technologies with its experience in AV receiver sound fields, so you can feel the full emotion of music, films and games through your headphones.

Amplifier, DAC and preamp

With an ESS ES9038PRO DAC, USB, optical, coaxial and RCA inputs, and XLR and RCA line outputs, the HA-L7A also works as a D/A converter or preamplifier for a speaker system.

Floating and Balanced Power Amplifier

Yamaha has optimised for headphones its patented Floating and Balanced Power Amplifier technology, also used in its flagship Hi-Fi amplifiers. Four sets of amplifier circuits, for the plus and minus sides of the left and right channels, float above ground.

Clean sound without noise

Because the output stages are fully isolated from ground, noise and voltage fluctuations are eliminated. The result is an exceptionally clean background, with a 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio and just 0.003% distortion.

Power for any headphone

The 6.3 mm, 4.4 mm balanced and 4-pin XLR outputs each deliver 1,000 mW + 1,000 mW into 32 Ω, and the amplifier supports headphones from 32 to 600 Ω. Two toroidal transformers and five solid metal feet provide stable power and isolation from vibration.

ESS ES9038PRO DAC

At the heart of the digital section sits the ESS ES9038PRO, one of the most advanced converters on the market.

High resolution up to DSD 11.2 MHz

Via the USB Type-B input the HA-L7A accepts PCM up to 384 kHz / 32-bit and DSD 2.8 / 5.6 / 11.2 MHz (ASIO Native and DoP). The coaxial input reaches 192 kHz / 24-bit and the optical 96 kHz / 24-bit, and there is also an analogue RCA input.

Pure Direct

Pure Direct bypasses processing so the signal reaches the amplifier by the shortest route, for the cleanest possible playback. The OLED display clearly shows source, sampling rate and volume.

SOUND FIELD for films and games

The HA-L7A brings Yamaha's AV receiver sound-field experience to headphones.

Six SOUND FIELD programs

CINEMA, DRAMA, MUSIC VIDEO, CONCERT HALL, OUTDOOR LIVE and BGM create a sense of space around you, for films, series, concerts and games. For pure stereo listening there is STRAIGHT mode.

For speakers too

The 3-pin XLR and RCA line outputs let you use the HA-L7A as a DAC or preamplifier for a power amplifier or active speakers. Drawing only 19 W and 0.2 W in standby, and measuring 33.3 × 13.3 × 18.9 cm, it fits easily on a desk or shelf.
