New DI Box Experience
Warm Audio DI boxes offer the rare versatility of having an onboard variable pad knob which attenuates your input signal all the way from -3dB to -30dB, which will easily tame any instrument input source.
Both of our Direct Boxes offer a Thru-put jack that is jumpered to the input jack. It is a convenience jack allowing you to send your instrument's signal to a second place in addition to the live mixer or recording device. Our Direct Boxes can also take a recorded signal at line level and send it to another line input while simultaneously sending signal out of the XLR mic level output of the Direct Box.
Typical Applications For A DI Box
Connecting electronic instruments such as guitar, bass, keyboard, or drum machines directly to a PA or recording system. Simply put, a DI box converts the high impedance, unbalanced output signals to low impedance, balanced output signals. By doing so, the instrument signals are now converted to the proper voltage level for the PA or recording system - which greatly reduces and/or eliminates connections which could cause tonal shifts and distortion.
Passive Or Active?
Direct Box Active is best for instruments with passive pickups, especially acoustic instruments. The Direct Box Active can also operate in "passive" mode. Direct Box Passive is best for balancing the signal of instruments with active electronics, but still performs extremely well on passive pickups by producing a frequency range that exceeds the bandwidth of most passive DI boxes on the market.

Radial J48
The Radial J48 has been designed from the ground up to deliver the most natural tone. As a direct box manufacturer, we do not believe it is our task to alter the sound of your prized '1962 Fender Jazz Bass', but retain and transfer the true character of the instrument to the mixing console without adding distortion or introducing artifact. This design philosophy has gained a tremendous following from many of the world's most demanding musicians.Using only 48V phantom power, the Radial J48 is an active direct box that produces an exceptionally linear response that extends from 20Hz up to well above 40kHz. Low distortion of all types is achieved via a unique digital switching power supply that raises the internal operating rail voltage for added headroom and improved signal handling. The results are truly amazing. The J48 delivers an ideal even-order harmonic cascade and a sonic performance that outperforms DIs costing several hundreds more.And like all Radial products, the J48 is both feature-rich for studio and made tough to handle the road. Radial J33
The Radial J33 is a combination phono preamplifier and purpose built stereo direct box made to handle the rigors of the professional recording studio and the abusive environment of live touring. But don't let the tough exterior fool you… the J33's sonic performance will easily surpass many audiophile preamps costing much more. The Radial J33, a high performance turntable preamp that is ideally suited for music playback, archiving, DJing and sampling.Designed specifically for dynamic cartridges, the J33 begins with a low noise front end. Inputs are standard RCA with the required turntable ground lug. A precise RIAA low pass filter is tailored to produce a smooth, warm response. The signal is then buffered to provide the audio system with a standard -10dB signal with choice of RCA connectors for compatibility with home HiFi entertainment systems, 3.5mm (1/8") output to feed a laptop or iPod, or a stereo TRS ¼" jack for an audio recorder. Radial PZ-DI
The Radial PZ-DI is a unique direct box that is specifically designed for acoustic and orchestral instruments. Unlike most direct boxes that are limited to a 'one size fits all' design, the PZ-DI lets you properly match the input impedance to the source to optimize the frequency response, dynamics and feel so that no matter what type of pickup you employ, you will enjoy smoother, more musically pleasing results.The design begins with a 3-position load adjustment switch: The 1 meg-ohm position delivers the classic impedance found on most active DI boxes. The 220k-ohm setting warms up the tone of a magnetic pickup to give you the feel and tone as if connected to a tube amplifier. The ultra-high 10 meg-ohm impedance is used to compensate for the harsh, squawky tone that usually plagues piezo-equipped instruments. This is followed by a fully variable high-pass filter that lets you 'size the instrument' by gently rolling off bass frequencies to eliminate unwanted resonance. You could for instance, retain the low frequencies on a cello or increase the cut-off point to better suit a violin. For active instruments such as acoustic guitars that incorporate a battery powered preamp, you can engage a low-pass filter to gently soften the hard edge for a smoother more natural tone.To maximize signal handling and reduce distortion, the PZ-DI incorporates an innovative DC to DC switching supply that converts the phantom power to deliver extra headroom. This provides ample dynamic range for acoustic instruments. Should an extra loud source such as an active bass or digital keyboard be encountered, simply activate the -15dB pad to satisfy the situation. Two-channel active DI box with CineMag transformers
The Warm Audio WA-DI-A2 is a two-channel (stereo) transformer-balanced active DI box that converts high-impedance instrument signals into balanced mic-level signals. It is ideal for stereo keys and synths, two guitars or basses at once, in the studio and on stage.
Preserve your tone
Inside is 100% Class-A circuitry with premium components, but the stars of the show are the custom CineMag USA output transformers, one per channel. They preserve the analog character of your instrument and signal chain before it reaches the mixer or interface, and allow long cable runs without losing level, tone or high-frequency detail.
Full control on every channel
Each channel has a variable -3 to -30 dB pad to set the right level, a ground lift switch to eliminate ground-loop hum, a phase switch and an Instrument / Amp Out selector for connecting straight from an amp's speaker output (always with a cabinet connected to the Thru jack). The Active/Passive switch lets you also use each channel as a passive DI, and LEDs show whether 48 V phantom power is present.
Built for the road and the studio
The WA-DI-A2 is powered by 48 V phantom power from the mixer or interface. Its rugged two-piece aluminium chassis is built for years of touring, and every unit is hand-tested in Austin, Texas.
