Warm Audio WA-14SP

The Warm Audio WA-14SP is a matched stereo pair of WA-14 large-diaphragm condenser microphones, inspired by the legendary early-1970s '414-style microphone. It is ideal for stereo recording of drum overheads, acoustic instruments, piano, strings and choirs, with three polar patterns and a variable pad.

Each WA-14 uses a custom all-brass CK12-style capsule, a CineMag USA transformer and a fully discrete signal path. It handles punchy and warm vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums and percussion, strings and orchestral material, with the realism and thickness of the vintage microphone at an affordable price.

All-brass capsule

The WA-12-B-60V is an all-brass, edge-terminated capsule that captures all the smoothness, rich top end and warm vintage sonics of the original CK12 capsule. It uses a variant CEK-12 backplate, which overcomes the manufacturing limitations of the original CK12. The o-ring and housing are made from brass (no teflon parts), and the diaphragm is 24k gold-sputtered 6 micron NOS PET film (mylar). The result is a very consistent, reliable capsule that matches the frequency response and tonality of the classic 1970s capsule.
