FLAMINGO, is a high quality two channel discrete class A microphone pre-amp. It can be operated as a musically transparent pre-amplifier, but is capable of emulating vintage sounds as well as creating distinctive new ones. The input gain is selected by a stepped switch for gain matching and repeatability. This is followed by a continuously variable attenuator to provide gain trim. Gain is adjustable in 6 db steps to 66 db gain and down to off by the attenuator. Each channel has independently switchable phase and phantom power switches. FLAMINGO also contains a two channel 22 element VU meter with an over load indicator to allow accurate monitoring and ease of level adjustment.Unique to FLAMINGO are three switches that allow the user to select different sounds; these are the IRON, SOUND and TONE switches. The SOUND switch changes the type of amplifier and the IRON switch puts iron in the audio path. The TONE switch, a 3 position switch, allows for standard - (the original Flamingo sound) when the switch is in the center position, when moved to the right, Flamingo operates as a transparent preamp, and when the switch is in the left most position, it has more color. Needless to say, by using these switches FLAMINGO can produce many different combinations of sounds. Also added to Flamingo is an input impedance switch. Providing 2 choices, the first is the original Flamingo; the second is to match large diaphragm condenser mics as recommended by David Bock, of Bock Audio. It also has transformer-less balanced inputs and outputs. FLAMINGO is designed to be flexible and give the user a tool to solve real world recording, broadcast, and sound reinforcement problems. It can provide an artistic choice of sounds at the flip of a switch.

The MANLEY TNT is a remarkable and desirable tube preamp on one side and its equivalent in solid-state on the other side. These are not simulations, not samples, nor are they a clone or a toy. It is really good ol' analog done right. The first request for this preamp and what started the project, was two-part: 1) Provide the SLAM! Mic Pre, by itself at a great price and 2) don't abandon the concept of a basic preamp where "one just plugs in a mic and it sounds great" (without needing to adjust 6 controls). The solid-state side helps keep the price reasonable while providing a much bigger range of colors and options and while there a few more knobs and switches, their action tends to be subtle and intuitive while difficult to dial in a bad setting. You don't have to tweak, but if you want to, it's there without much possibility of going wrong. Now there is a challenge: Give me a really useful range of colors because I don't want to buy 6 preamps, yet it's gotta be fast and safe to operate, and not too expensive, please, but you had better give me Manley quality.Of course, all the usual front panel features: phantom power, phase switch, HP filters, LED overload and level indicators, and instrument inputs are there. Phantom is soft-switched and shunt regulated for lowest noise. (There are 6 low noise shunt regulators, and 5 standard regulators in the solid-state side). The High Pass Filter is a new approach, but suffice it to say that with it bypassed, the preamp is designed to have almost DC response (.01Hz) at all gain settings. The LED meter is set up to indicate first and second stage clipping, even though the output is capable of greater than +30 dBu (70 volts peak to peak into 50 Ohms from the solid-state side actually!). While we are tossing out numbers, both the current mode and voltage mode preamps sport EIN numbers of 130dB, very close to the theoretical minimum noise possible. So this thing is gravely quiet! And for the true connoisseurs, the preamps don't suffer at the highest (80 dB) or lowest (10 dB) gain settings, however you connoisseurs might be disappointed that this level of performance won't be exclusive and only available for the elite or very wealthy. We will announce the final price soon, but we're for now just going to hint that it will not break the bank or drain yer wallet...Specifications:TUBE CHANNEL (Left Channel)Tube Channel Vacuum Tubes: 1 x 12AT7EH + 1 x NOS 6414 or 6414WGain Range: +10 dB to +80 dB (20 to 70dB in 5 dB steps)Mic Input Impedance: 600, 2400, 10,000 OhmsInstrument Input Impedance: 300K,1Meg, 3 Meg OhmsFrequency Response: (-1 dB) 10 Hz to 30 kHz; (-3dB) 5 Hz to 45 kHzTHD & NOISE (1 kHz @ 20 dB gain): 0.035% typical (-68 dB)Noise Floor: -60 dB typical referenced to +4dBmEIN: -120 dBSignal to Noise @ 70 dB Gain: 95dB (TRIM has major effect)Maximum Output for 1% THD via BALANCED +4 XLR: 31 dBuCOOL CHANNEL (Right or Solid State Channel)Gain Range: +10 dB to +80 dB (20 to 70dB in 5 dB steps)Mic Input Impedance: 300, 600, 2000, 2 Meg OhmsInstrument Input Impedance: 100K, 300K,1Meg, 3 Meg, 10 Meg OhmsFrequency Response: (-1 dB) 15 Hz to 30 kHz; (-3dB) 5 Hz to 50 kHzTHD & NOISE (1 kHz @ 20 dB gain): 0.01% typical (-80 dB) (no distortion products measurable, noise dominates measurement)Noise Floor: -66 dB typical referenced to +4dBmEIN: -126 dBSignal to Noise @ 70 dB Gain: 85dB (TRIM has little effect)Maximum Output for 1% THD:via BALANCED +4 XLR: 30 dBuvia UNBALANCED +4 output: 24 dBuvia UNBALANCED -10 output: 16 dBuDistortion @ 1K using 60' / 70's switch:1.5% typical with LED onset (+4 dBu out)3% typical with LED fully lit (+7 dBu out)GENERALPower consumption: 30 wattsOperating mains voltage: Units' power transformers are wired for original destination country's mains voltage: 100V, 120V, or 220-240VAC as indicated on the serial number badge. The PRE-573 MKII is a one width module for the api 500 format that has the sound and the features that made the PRE-73 so successful and a few additional ones. The circuit still uses the preamp and output section from the classic 1073-module, adapted to work in the api rack format. It has a total gain range from -10 to +80 dB. The 20 – 70 dB range is handled by a turn switch and there is a separate toggle switch to select an additional 5 or 10 dB gain. The input can be configured to accept line level signals by another switch, the gain is then lowered by about 30 dB and the input impedance increased to about 10 kohm. The input impedance of the mic input mode can be switched between 1200 and 300 ohm. Phantom power and phase reverse is also selectable by front panel switches. An added feature, using the same circuit as in the PRE-73 DLX, is the active DI-input with a high input impedance of about 1,5 Mohm. The output signal from the active DI circuit passes through the input transformer for some extra character. The DI-input is very flexible since it can be changed to a purely passive one by a front panel switch. The DI input is then exactly the same as in the PRE-73 MKIII where the signal is feed directly into the second gain stage, bypassing the transformer and with an input impedance of about 100 kohm. These two DI-options makes it possible to get different tones from electric instruments and the passive DI input mode is more suited for injecting active units like sound modules. A new feature is the switchable AIR mode that adds a boost above 10 kHz that peaks at 6 dB around 30 kHz. A simple but effective signal and overload indicator is offered by a single LED that starts glowing red at about +4 dBu and then increases its intensity up to the maximum output level. The PRE-573 MKII has a dedicated insert connector at the back allowing it to interface with other GAP 500 modules. The insert can be activated by removing a jumper connector at the back of the module. The EQ-573 consists of the inductor based high pass filter section and the 3-band eq section from the classic 1073 module with some added frequencies. These two modules together will offer a fully fledged 1073-module in a compact format at a very low cost. There is a second jumper at the back of the module that selects 600 ohm termination on the output. The standard mode is termination on, since it gives the flattest response when the PRE-573 MKII is used with modern line inputs that typically has an input impedance of 10 kohm or more. The user can chose to remove the jumper and deactivate the termination resistor, this will increase the level above 10 kHz and create a peak in the response for an even more pronounced “Air” effect. The output is transformer balanced and fully floating and can drive a 600 ohm load up to level of about 28 dBu.

The ISA microphone pre-amplifier was first introduced back in 1985. This transformer-based pre-amplifier formed the first half of the ISA110 mic-pre and EQ module on Focusrite's critically acclaimed Forte console. This console, and the later Studio console were hailed by many as the finest sounding consoles ever built. The ISA microphone pre-amplifier went on to form the cornerstone of all ISA and RED Focusrite products.  The topology has never changed, except for the addition of a variable impedance circuit, allowing ISA users to either perfectly match the pre-amp with any microphone, thus maximizing level, or to use different settings creatively to shape the sound of the microphone being used. The original ISA110 setting was supplemented by three further impedance settings. The Focusrite pre amp is renowned for its transparency, but there's also that subtle warmth that transformer core saturation contributes. This seeming contradiction of warmth plus beautifully open, unrestricted high frequencies, is a classic hallmark of the mid 80's Focusrite designs.           FEATURESISA Series Transformer-based Pre-amplifier Flexible Independent D.I. The WA-412 provides 4 channels of classic American console preamps in a sleek 1RU design. This style of preamp is often referred to as "the sound of Rock n' Roll" for its BIG punchy low end and smooth open top end. The price/performance ratio of the WA-412 is almost unfathomable to the experienced studio engineer who has possibly paid much more for preamps of this style during their career. Featuring fully discrete socketed 6-pin opamps and custom wound Altran USA input and output transformers, the WA-412 leaves nothing to be desired. If you are looking for multiple channels of world class tone in an affordable package, the WA-412 is the right choice for you.Inspiration behind the WA-412.When I first started holding regular studio sessions years ago I always desired to have more channels of high-end mic pre's. I could only afford to have one or two in my studio at a time, which was never enough to record a full band or drummer. I knew very well that if signals were not recorded well "on the way in" they wouldn't be salvageable later, but my budget constrained me.  Because of this so many of the sources were recorded through poor-quality mic preamps.  If the WA-412 was available back then I likely wouldn't have had to settle for poor, low-quality tone. The WA-412 was designed "for the people" (if you will) and we believe it will become a serious work-horse in many professional and home studios. - Bryce Young (founder)More features. The WA-412 has all of the features one would expect from this style of preamp... and more. Output Trim is available on every channel for precise control and creative gain structuring. A Tone switch (transformer input impedance) is also available on each channel, which allows you to choose between a warm and punchy classic console tone, or go for a more open & neutral sound.Better components. Each channel utilizes a fully discrete socketed 6-pin opamp that can be swapped with other opamps. Discrete opamp circuitry is known for its high headroom and low distortion characteristics and has much to do with the coveted sound of these classic console preamps.  All input and output transformers that are made in the USA by high-end transformer manufacturer, Altran. We worked closely with Altran to create unique transformers that extend the low frequency response of these classic preamps. The transformers also use a vintage winding technique that produces a very distinct smooth BIG character. Carefully choosing the WA-412 components has resulted in an amazing four channel ‘workhorse’ preamp/DI that performs at the highest levels, while still adding vintage console magic to your signal.Specificaions:4 Channel Microphone Preamplifier + Instrument DIFully discrete, transformer coupled, through-hole component topologyAltran USA custom wound, premium input and output transformersX520 discrete op-amp in every channel, socketed for convenience. The 3u 19" Earlybird 4 has a unique valve design, in that it uses Class A bias valves in a push-pull circuit.Company founder and chief designer Vic Keary believes that this is one of the finest pre-amplifiers available today, and despite their use for distortion in poweramps, valves have better distortion and lower noise than solid state amps. Due to specially designed Sowter transformers the Earlybird 4 boasts well under .01% distortion, as Vic explains "it's like connecting a pair of wires with gain to your mic, it's so clean!"It has a very high output level of +32dB and if desired, 2nd order harmonics can be introduced by increasing mic gain and reducing output gain. The unit has switched gain controls with a maximum of 62dB of mic gain and a variable output along with pads, phase and stepped filter. A pair of meters can be switched between 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.

The Earlybird 2.2 is a two channel all valve pre-amp employing a balanced push-pull circuit, which as far as we know, is unique in this application. The use of this type of circuit gives very low noise and plenty of headroom with minimal distortion. These factors coupled with a switchable input impedance will mean the user can get a very natural interpretation of whatever sound the microphone is picking up, whether the mic is valve, ribbon, moving coil or FET. The Earlybird 2.2 retains all of the features of the previous Earlybirds. We have added an extra pair of inputs to allow permanent connection to a Pullet EQ. In addition the active EQ section now has switchable frequencies on the mid and bass lift sections. The Gain controls have now been simplified and incorporated into a Function switch.

There is also a switchable LPF ( low pass filter ).'ATTITUDE' DISTORTION SECTIONThe same 5725-distortion tube which is employed in the Culture Vulture is used in the new Rooster. It offers a subtle distortion characteristic in the triode position, more so than a Culture Vulture due to the higher HT voltage, and so has a very low (about 0.01%) distortion when the 'Attitude' control is set to 1. In the pentode mode it generates more 3rd harmonic distortion. Distortion can be pretty radical when the Attitude control is to 'Max' and the input is high.OUTPUT SECTIONThe output valve is ECF80 which combines high output with low impedance (less than 100 ohms). There is +48v phantom power, and phase reverse. The output is unbalanced as standard but a balancing transformer option that is used in the Culture Vulture Mastering will be available.

The PRE-73 MKIII is a one-channel vintage style microphone-, line- and instrument preamplifier. The signal path uses only discrete components like resistors, capacitors and transistors. The in- and output is transformer balanced, using two different transformers, each one optimized for its purpose. This is the way audio components were built before integrated circuits became available. The circuit used in the PRE-73 MKIII is similar to the preamp section in the classical 1073 module with a corresponding sound character that is warm, punchy, sweet and musical. These classic characteristics have been heard on countless recordings through the years and it is a versatile sound that works very well on most sound sources and in most genres. The essence of this sound is now available at a surprisingly low cost, making it available to nearly everyone. The MKIII has the following new features compared to the MKII:Tantalum capacitors in the signal path.Selectable two position high frequency AIR boost eq, 3 or 6 dB @ 30 kHz.Selectable two frequency high pass filter, 6 dB/octave at 40 or 170Hz.The pcb is prepared for the Carnhill input transformer.Revised and less complicated GAIN switch with a separate switch for MIC/LINE selection. All GAIN settings can also be used in LINE mode .

The small version of the PRE-73 offers the same sound as its big brother in a super-compact 4.75" chassis at an unbeatable price. Thanks to the insert jack on the back, the manufacturer's EQ units can be easily combined with the Preamp. In addition, a DI input is located on the front, so that instruments can be preamplified in addition to all common microphone types. The Mk II also offers the user a 2-stage high-pass filter and the popular Air EQ in 2 stages. With a subtle boost at 30kHz, the audio material is significantly upgraded; it sounds more refined, HiFi-like and gets a pleasant presence in the mix.Due to the high level of low-noise preamplification, the PRE-73 is also suitable for low-level dynamic microphones such as the Shure SM7B, the Electro Voice RE20 or ribbon microphones.

If there’s one preamp-eq that professional engineers would unanimously agree has defined the tone of pop/rock records for the last 50+ years, it would most definitely be the venerable 1073.  The 1073 has been massively used in recording and live applications for decades and is still considered to be the “Holy Grail” of preamp(eq’s) today.  The Warm Audio “WA73 Family” provides single and dual channel re-creations of this classic British preamp (with & w/out EQ), that each pay careful and humble homage to the original circuit. After years of R&D, careful reverse-engineering, and countless hours of auditioning, the WA73 Family has been born! The WA73 Family shines on all types of microphones and sources including; vocals, acoustic/electric guitars, bass, drums, percussion, orchestras, keyboards, and even as a tone shaping tool to run partial or complete mixes through.  With 80dB of gain, a fully discrete Carnhill Transformer balanced signal path, and versatile 3 band inductor EQ (on WA73-EQ and WA273-EQ products) - there’s no recording, mixing or engineering task the WA73, WA73-EQ, WA273, and WA273-EQ can’t handle.A LOOK INSIDEHand Wired, Hand AssembledThe classic 1073 was hand-wired and so is the WA73 Family!  Guru’s claim that a portion of the 1073’s classic tone can be attributed to the hand-wired nature of the build.  The entirety of the WA73 Family of preamp(eq’s) is authentically hand-wired and hand assembled, including the pcb components that are all populated by hand.UK Custom Carnhill Transformers1073 enthusiasts unequivocally get excited about the component history in these classic circuits.  The signal transformers are a common topic of conversation.  The classic vintage units used various versions of transformers throughout the years, and the most coveted were the very first versions made by Marinair Radar.  Marinair Radar Transformers are regarded as the most desirable 1073 choice due to their fluid and forgiving nature.  They saturate sweetly when pushed, and have been known to make engineers cry when they hear how beautiful their mixes sound through them!  Warm Audio worked closely with Carnhill Transformers of Cambridgeshire, UK, to design faithful replicas of these most coveted, early version transformers.  The entire WA73 Family proudly utilizes these fantastic Carnhill Transformers.  We at Warm Audio have not yet heard a modern day 1073-style preamp(eq) sound as close to the early vintage 1073 design as do our WA73 Family units with these beautiful custom Transformers.Capacitors & Signal Path:An important part of these classic British circuits not often discussed is the different styles of capacitors and output transistor used.  We found it important to maintain integrity to the original design by using tantalum and polystyrene capacitors in the signal path and an output transistor choice that is much smoother in the high gain settings than what is typically found in modern 1073-style replicas.UK Blore Edwards Switch-Pots (WA73-EQ & WA273-EQ only):A great sounding 1073-style circuit should be just as reliable as it is great sounding.  The complex dual concentric switch potentiometers in the EQ sections of the WA73-EQ and WA273-EQ are made in the UK by Blore Edwards who manufacture military spec switches and potentiometers.  The use of Blore-Edwards components is no small inclusion for 1073-style preamp-eq’s in this price range            SPECIFICATIONS
