Balanced tube phono preamplifier
The Pro-Ject Tube Box S3 B is an audiophile tube phono preamplifier that brings true analogue warmth to vinyl playback. It features a fully symmetrical, discrete gain stage with two ECC83 (12AX7) tubes, a balanced 5-pin mini XLR input and XLR and RCA outputs.
It is made in Europe in a steel and aluminium case. Winner of the EISA Phono Preamplifier 2026-2027 award.
Settings on the front panel
Gain is set to 40, 45, 60 or 65 dB to suit MM and MC cartridges and match the level of your other sources. Load impedance (10 Ω to 47 kΩ) and capacitance (50 to 400 pF) are changed from the front-panel buttons. The settings of each input are stored in memory.
"B" stands for balanced
With a 5-pin mini XLR cable, the cartridge signal travels balanced, in two paths (+ and -) that carry the same musical information. The symmetrical gain stage removes any noise picked up along the way and keeps only the music. That is why the circuit has two separate amplifier sections, which is rare in this price range.
Ready for True Balanced
The Tube Box S3 B is ready for Pro-Ject's True Balanced Connection. With a True Balanced phono cable and an MC cartridge you hear detail and dynamics that were previously only offered by far more expensive phono stages. XLR and RCA outputs suit any amplifier.
