CD at its very best
The Marantz CD 70 is designed for lovers of the physical disc who want high-fidelity playback that fits the way we listen today. Drawing on Marantz's expertise, it combines a high-precision transport, a new-generation D/A converter, HDAM-SA2 analogue stages and a low-noise power supply.
A reference source for your whole collection
It plays audio CDs, CD-R/RW and high-resolution files up to 24-bit/192 kHz from USB. It matches the Marantz Model 70 amplifier in design and sound, for a complete, harmonious system.
Precision transport
The result of decades of Marantz experience in CD players, the CD 70 features an optimised transport that reads the information on the disc with great precision. Its design minimises read errors and delivers stable, faithful and richly detailed playback, from commercial CDs and recorded CD-R/RW discs alike. It also plays MP3 and WMA files burned to disc.
New-generation DAC and Master Clock
From the transport, the signal passes to a new-generation D/A converter carefully paired with a precision clock (Master Clock Design). This architecture effectively limits jitter and preserves every nuance of the recording.
Natural sound
The result is especially natural playback, with clear separation of instruments, wide dynamics and very low distortion of just 0.0016%, with a 110 dB signal-to-noise ratio.
Hi-Res via USB
Beyond CDs, the CD 70 has a front USB-A port for playing files directly from a USB stick or compatible drive. It supports many high-resolution formats, including FLAC, ALAC and AIFF up to 24-bit/192 kHz, as well as DSD files up to 5.6 MHz. Your physical disc collection and your digital library are equally easy to enjoy.
Selectable digital filters
To tailor the sound to your preferences, the CD 70 offers selectable digital filters. They change how the D/A conversion behaves for a more analytical or softer presentation, depending on your taste and the hi-fi system it joins.
Analogue and digital outputs
A gold-plated RCA analogue output and optical and coaxial digital outputs let you connect an external DAC or an amplifier with a built-in DAC.
HDAM-SA2 and iconic design
Like the brand's best components, the CD 70 uses the renowned HDAM-SA2 (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) analogue circuits. Developed by Marantz, they replace conventional op-amps with faster response, lower noise and greater transparency. They drive both the analogue output and the headphone amplifier, which has independent volume control for private listening.
In harmony with the Model 70
The CD 70 shares the premium design of the Marantz Model 70 amplifier. A rigid aluminium chassis reduces mechanical and electrical interference, and the dimpled front panel, like a golf ball, recalls the iconic Marantz components of the 1950s to 1970s.
Stability and control
The chassis sits on vibration-absorbing feet for ideal disc reading. It is controlled from the front panel or from across the room with the remote.
