Technology & Craft
The streaming section of the ND5 XS 2 uses the latest Naim network card featuring low-noise, high-speed low-voltage differential signalling (LVDS) to route the digital audio signal. The higher speed is capable of decoding all HD audio formats at up to 32 bits/384 kHz or DSD128. Rather than the source acting as the digital timing master, our new streaming board turns things around and allows our DAC clock to control the flow of audio data. The data is integer-over-sampled in a SHARC DSP to an incredible 40-bit accuracy before it’s fed to the PCM1791A Burr-Brown digital-toanalogue converter.
Developing a new streaming platform was one of the biggest projects we have ever taken on. Naim engineers across all disciplines – electronic, industrial, acoustic and mechanical – worked for three years to create a system that could make the most of online services such as TIDAL and Spotify while adding future-proof flexibility through Chromecast built-in. Supporting faster data rates with dual-band Wi-Fi and the latest 802.11ac protocol, this robust platform was designed for the highest performance on every level.

The Eversolo DMP-A10 is the flagship of Eversolo's network players: streamer, Hi-Res DAC and balanced preamplifier with microphone room calibration, in a metal chassis with a 6.5" touchscreen and a second circular display on the volume knob.
It uses the ESS ES9039PRO DAC with precision clocks, plays every major streaming service, is Roon Ready and connects analogue and digital sources, including the TV via HDMI ARC.
ES9039PRO and 50 fs clock
At the heart of the DMP-A10 is the ESS Sabre ES9039PRO, ESS's flagship DAC chip, paired with an XMOS XU-316 USB interface. It plays PCM up to 32-bit / 768 kHz, DSD up to DSD512 and MQA.
Temperature-controlled clocks
Two low-phase-noise oscillators at 45.1584 MHz and 49.152 MHz are held at a stable operating temperature by a dedicated circuit, bringing jitter down to around 50 femtoseconds.
Dual power, isolated circuits
Data and display have their own supply, while the analogue stages run from a linear toroidal supply with ripple below 30 µVrms. The audio circuits are isolated, and the SFP port allows a fibre network connection free of electrical noise.
Measurements
At the XLR output: dynamic range and SNR above 130 dB, THD+N below 0.000078% (−122 dB), response 20 Hz – 20 kHz (±0.15 dB).
64-relay R2R preamplifier
The fully analogue, balanced preamplifier controls volume with a passive 64-relay R2R attenuator. The DMP-A10 therefore drives a power amplifier such as the Eversolo AMP-F10, or active speakers, directly.
Acoustic calibration
With a USB microphone such as the Eversolo EM-01, or your phone's microphone via the app, the unit plays test tones through the speakers and corrects the response of the room and system. A full equaliser with parametric filters is included.
Subwoofers and sources
Two subwoofer outputs, two RCA and one XLR input for analogue sources, and fixed-level outputs when you want to use it purely as a source.
Trigger
Trigger input and output to switch the whole system on together.
Screens, streaming and library
The 6.5" touchscreen shows album art, resolution and analogue-style VU meters, while a second circular display on the volume knob shows the cover and level. It is also controlled from the Eversolo app or the Bluetooth remote.
Bit-perfect streaming
The EOS operating system plays TIDAL, Qobuz, HighResAudio, Amazon Music, Spotify, Deezer, Napster and other services bit-perfect.
Roon Ready and two SSDs
Roon Ready certified, it plays from a NAS, computer or Roon server, and has two internal M.2 slots for SSDs up to 4 TB each.
