Advanced Phase Precision Driver To reproduce music with enhanced spatial sound expressivity requires that the wavefronts of sounds coming from the speaker unit are all aligned when they reach the listener regardless of the listening position. The concept of point sound source is one of the ideal approaches to achieve it. To realise the point sound source reproduction, the coaxial configuration was adopted and then it was combined with the originally shaped Linear Phase Plug for aligning phases and the Smooth Flow Diaphragm formed with a shallow-shape diaphragm and smooth edge shape for minimum sound reflection. The SB-G90M2’s 2-way coaxial speaker unit was newly developed for the reproduction of the mid- to high-frequency range in order to realise the clear sound image localisation and high sound quality to deliver smooth, emotion-rich music, while inheriting the concepts of point sound source and linear phase that Technics pursues relentlessly. Linear Phase Plug The originally shaped acoustic plug is positioned on the front side of the tweeter diaphragm and provides a high-resolution sound reproduction capability and a wide sound stage. The tip of the Linear Phase Plug is made from a high-modulus, high-density brass material. It prevents the plug from vibrating unnecessarily due to the effect of the vibration of the mid-range unit, thus delivering clear and low-distortion sound. Smooth Flow Diaphragm When sound wave propagates along an irregular surface, its wavefront becomes disturbed due to the surface irregularities and results in the degradation of frequency characteristics. This affects particularly the characteristics of high frequencies with short wavelengths. The diaphragm of the mid-range unit, which is part of the coaxial speaker unit, has a shallow shape with a smooth edge to reduce sound reflections so that the disturbance to the sounds radiated from the diaphragm is minimised, resulting in excellent frequency response, phase characteristic and wide directivity. This configuration achieves a wide sound stage and smooth and rich mid- to high-frequency range. Stationary Construction To reproduce the sound of music with a high S/N ratio, sources of all undesirable or unwanted sound have been eliminated completely. To that end, the balanced driver mounting architecture adopted by the previous SB-G90 model was further optimised through the extensive CAE analysis and the speaker mount baffle was newly developed for the secure mounting of the speaker units. In addition, the rigidity of the entire cabinet was strengthened to take advantage of the balanced driver mounting architecture. The strength and shape of each and every one of the parts composing the coaxial speaker was reviewed painstakingly in order to remove unwanted vibrations and noise as completely as possible. What’s more, a sound path structure is provided inside the cabinet. This new and unique structure effectively eliminate standing waves that cause a resonance peak. Balanced Driver Mounting Architecture Unwanted vibrations generated by the speaker mount baffle have been further reduced by improving the vent holes using CAE and by allowing the one-piece woofer amount baffle to penetrate the bottom board for achieving higher rigidity. What’s more, the optimised vent holes improve the distribution of sound radiated from the back sides of speakers for enhanced response. In addition, the coaxial speaker mount baffle is separated from the woofer mount baffle to eliminate the mutual interference. Together, they further enhance the crispness of sound and three dimensional presentation of sound field. Standing Wave Termination Structure A resonance called standing wave is usually generated inside the speaker cabinet by the sound of a certain frequency determined by the cabinet size. The most common method to eliminate the standing wave is to install a sound absorbing material inside the cabinet. However, since sound absorbing material also absorbs sound at frequencies other than the one that generates a standing wave, it somewhat removes dynamism or vividness from the reproduced sound. As a countermeasure, a sound path structure is provided at the bottom of the woofer cabinet to guide the standing waves. Sound absorbing material is installed at the location in the sound path where the speed of sound becomes fastest. This enables the efficient removal of standing waves, which are the cause of resonance peaks, with a minimum amount of sound absorbing material. (Patented) This structure allows the use of all information necessary for accurately reproducing music so the speaker system realises more vivid and natural medium- and low-frequency sound.

Top model with 4-way components The Signature 507 is just as slim as the 505, but a bit higher at 1030 mm. The increased size is due to the dual woofer used, with the result that the 507 has a 170 mm bass-midrange unit as well as woofers of the same size, enabling it to reproduce correspondingly lower frequencies. It does, of course, also have the Hi-Res certified dual tweeter module with 2 fmax domes. The front panel with its integrated wave guides also optimizes the dispersion characteristics. Like all the speakers in the Signature 500 range, the sturdiest possible connection terminals are used, which allows the best cables to be used, as well as facilitating bi-wiring or bi-amping operation. It goes without saying that the 507 is suitable both as a stereo speaker and as a front channel in a home cinema system. TWEETER & SUPER-TWEETER Front panel with dedicated sound guidance for optimum dispersion properties Additional 20 mm super dome tweeter for ideal omnidirectional sound distribution and extended reproduction up to 50 kHz Newly developed high-res tweeter module with two fmax dome tweeters Powerful neodymium ring magnet systems for best dynamics 1.2" dome tweeter with extra-thick surround for low frequency coupling to the midrange WOOFER / MIDRANGE coated paper cone Ventilated voice-coil unit for maximum capacity Klippel® optimised construction Solid decorative rings, fixed by six screws Solid metal basket with generous ventilation openings FE-Dynamics woofer-midrange CROSSOVER Big Bi-Wiring/Bi-Amping connecting terminal with big screw connectors and gold-plated contacts Amplitude and phase-optimised crossover with acoustical 24dB filters and high-quality components CABINET High-gloss lacquered baffle (black version) or satin lacquered baffle (mocca version) Two-Airflex ports with rounded reflex opening for reducing wind noises Sturdy base struts for stability Resonance damping rubber pucks and metal spikes included Removable cloth grille Solid low-resonance cabinet construction using E1-MDF panels CABINET SURFACE Front: Piano black / cabinet: Ash decor black Front: Anthracite satin / cabinet: Ash decor mocca

Key Features Striking floorstanding Speakers with twin 165mm and 22mm precision drivers The Q 3050i cabinet uses Point-to-Point (P2PTM) bracing techniques to reduce intrusive cabinet vibrations for a purer sound HPE™ technology eliminates sympathetic resonance within the enclosures by equalising air pressure within the 3050i cabinet Conventional terminal panel cut-outs have been removed, giving greatly improved structural integrity to the enclosures and new low profile binding posts Uses a 22mm decoupled High Frequency Driver with wide surround creating a wide even dispersion of stereo Leading Technology; Outstanding Performance The Q 3050i speakers boast a range of unique technologies including HPE™ and P2P™ to ensure these floorstanding speakers deliver a truly exceptional sound. HPE™ (Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer) technology designed to convert pressure to velocity and reduce the overall pressure gradient within the speaker enclosure, has been applied to the Q 3050i to reduce cabinet resonance. This technology is perfect for taller loudspeakers that tend to resonate at a single favoured frequency. Q Acoustics P2P™ bracing across the 3000i Series supports the parts of the enclosure that need to be stiffened making the enclosures exceptionally rigid, improving the focus of the stereo image and giving the soundstage more accuracy than in previous ranges. High Frequency Driver Unit For An Unaltered Sound Q 3050i tweeters are decoupled from the baffle via a compliant suspension system. Vibrations from the woofer, which can impair the performance of the tweeter are isolated allowing the tweeter to perform with dramatically reduced interference. Whichever 3000i model you choose the cone is precision formed from impregnated and coated paper and teamed with a newly developed, low-hysteresis, rubber surround. The coated paper cone provides the optimum balance between stiffness and self-damping which means it can accelerate without flexing and stop very accurately without unwanted resonances.

Small wonder 803 D4 may be notably more compact than the 801 D4 or 802 D4, but it still bristles with technical innovation, most obviously in its use of a three-box construction. Its 130mm (5in) midrange cone is carefully isolated from the impact of its bass cones thanks to its Turbine Head enclosure. Reverse Wrap cabinet Instead of a conventional loudspeaker box, our cabinets are made from a continuous curved section of wood, with the drive units mounted at the heart of the curvature. This stiffer, more inert structure resists mechanical resonances far better and also ensures better dispersion of sound. Enhanced Matrix™ Matrix bracing uses interlocking panels to reinforce loudspeaker cabinet walls in all directions internally, reducing resonance and creating a more believable soundstage. The Matrix assembly in 803 D4 is our best yet, ensuring optimum scale, power and intelligibility. Aluminium bass pods 803 D4 mounts two Aerofoil™ bass cones in twin solid aluminium bass pods, each of which is clamped into an aluminium plate fixed to the stiffest part of its curved cabinet. Formed as single pieces of metal, these stiff structures provide the perfect mechanical location for those powerful bass cones. The science of sound Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. We question, we examine, we understand and then we evolve. We use computer modelling to explore and reimagine every aspect of loudspeaker design. Learn more about all the technologies that combine to make 800 Series Diamond™ so special here. Step up for more power 803 D4 features all the most iconic ingredients in the 800 Series Diamond range including, of course, that famous headed enclosure. It is, however, smaller than its other siblings. Step up to the 802 D4, and you’ll get both larger 200mm (8in) bass cones and a larger 150mm (6in) midrange driver.

The longest standing loudspeaker of the line, Sopra N°3 perfectly combines dynamics, space optimisation and harmonic richness. With its two 8¼" (21cm) woofers, this loudspeaker offers solid, rich and perfectly defined bass for music lovers looking for optimum performance. Despite its reasonable size, it will reveal its full potential in rooms measuring up to 860 ft2 (80 m2).Sopra clearly inaugurates a new era for the “Premium High End” by taking into account new performance criteria. Compact, modern, a pure design, character... all these are essential factors to ensure perfect integration into your interior. Equipped with best midrange drivers ever developed by Focal, with the NIC and TMD technologies, Sopra pushes back the limits of sound reproduction in terms of transparency in a very compact enclosure. Indeed, unlike Utopia, which is extravagant by essence and where size is by no means a constraint, Sopra aims for maximal compactness to ensure easy integration into reasonably sized rooms. Since the beginning, we have always had a great interest in the magnetic circuit, an essential aspect of a speaker drive unit. The precision and detail of audio reproduction depends on the stability of the magnetic field. NIC technology (Neutral Inductance Circuit) permits to control the magnetic field and finally enables to master it in order to limit distortion. It decreases the effects of distortion and give the sound a very high-definition and an unprecedented dynamic. The main theme of Sopra is deliberately uncluttered, though it still offers connoisseurs the opportunity to enjoy all the small details. The grille with an incremental meshing motif protects the Beryllium tweeter and gives it a strong identity. This motif is repeated for sealing the curved back panel of the middle section. The terminal board, the thumb nuts and the adjustable spikes have all been specially designed for Sopra, as have the few visible screws, all of which were manufactured by watchmaking experts. Made in France Sopra’s cabinet was designed in our cabinet-making facility in Bourbon-Lancy (Burgundy, France) using the same manufacturing process as for Utopia The 69mm sandwich-machined front panel uses the same principle as ‘Gamma Structure’ to provide inertia and damping. Its density gives it the inertia necessary to provide a stable mechanical reference for optimal definition. The inside of the cabinet has no parallel side panels, and small Helmholtz resonators have been added to the lower section to prevent vertical standing waves. We chose glass as th e material for the base of the loudspeaker to provide floor coupling, using spikes, which enabled the fastest propagation time possible, thus eliminating all halo effects in the bass.

Wharfedale’s new EVO4 has grown out of the extensive research and development that produced the ELYSIAN flagship loudspeakers and borrows much of the technology involved in ELYSIAN. The primary focus is on the AMT development resulting in a radically different way of reproducing high frequency detail efficiently and accurately. Similar cabinet technology to ELYSIAN provides a stable and solid foundation for the drive units with radiused edges to help integrate the driver output with the room acoustics. In addition the unique SLPP bass reflex system, as developed for ELYSIAN, is now incorporated in EVO4.

The powerhouse model of the Wharfedale DIAMOND 12 series, the DIAMOND 12.4 is the room-filling, chest-pounding, largest model in the series. For larger, more powerful systems and cinema-style home theatre experiences, the DIAMOND 12.4 will fill your room with an impactful, immersive performance. Configured in a 2.5 way system with exception crossover technology, the DIAMOND 12.3 utilises dual 150mm (6.5”) KlarityTM drivers for impactful yet refined mid-range and bass frequencies, while the 25mm (1”) dome tweeter delivers open and smoothly extended high frequencies. A voice coil beyond this class The voice coil is wound on a high-power epoxy/glass fibre bobbin highly unusual in speakers at this price level. This has the advantage of not adding eddy currents and delivering greater power handling than an aluminium bobbin, whilst also being much stiffer than the Kapton type associated with this price-class. DIAMOND highs The 25mm dome is made from a woven polyester film with a high-loss coating to deliver open and smoothly extended high frequencies. The magnet system and the front plate have been optimised for wide dispersion and uncompressed behaviour. The front plate is flat and exposes the dome as much as possible; only a very short duct on the front plate balances the acoustic load and improves the SPL (sound pressure level) measurement. A crossover of style The crossover network uses an acoustic LKR 24dB topology. This includes air-core inductors of the type more commonly found in high-end speakers, selected because they produce the lowest distortion of all inductor types. As the resistance of the coil is higher than a standard laminated steel or ferrite core inductor, the magnetic structure of the mid/bass driver has been modified to compensate, resulting in fast, clean bass with no distortion from the inductor. Firm and fair The DIAMOND 12.1 ’s rear-ported enclosure is precisely sized so that the internal volume works in harmony with the drive unit system to deliver the desired sonic result. A multi-layered sandwich design subdues the identifiable characteristics of the cabinet’s ‘sound’. Even the resonant properties of the glue between the layers was measured to determine the optimum combination. Brace yourself Inside the cabinet, Intelligent Spot Bracing connects opposite walls with a specific form of the wood brace to achieve an optimal reduction of cabinet resonance. These braces are precisely modelled by computer simulation to improve upon the commonplace ‘figure of eight’ brace, which may simply transfer resonance from one wall to another.
