In the six years since the last NAIT integrated amplifiers were released, our research and development team have worked on a range of amplifier improvements. The result is upgraded power amplifier sections for NAIT XS 3, delivering greater pace and intimacy to their musical delivery – whether it's driving a pair of loudspeakers or your favourite pair of headphones. The NAIT XS 3 has received significant performance upgrades, including a built-in phono stage, making it a perfect partner for turntables, as well as for streamers, CD players, or any other music source people want to enjoy with the signature Naim sound. The NAIT XS 3 offers much of the performance of our reference quality SUPERNAIT 3 in a simpler, slimmer package combining a 70W power amplifier with five analogue inputs plus a phono stage. Its high-performance preamplifier stage is as transparent as you would expect from a Naim Audio amplifier, and it also shares the single-ended class-A headphone output of its larger sibling. The NAIT XS 3 can be upgraded with our external power supplies, power amplifiers and even cabling upgrades to get the best from all sources. The second gain stage transistors have been optimised, so they no longer need to be shielded by a cascode stage transistor. Removing the cascode means less amplifier stabilisation is required: that doubles the slew rate and delivers another uplift in sound quality. The phono circuit topology comprises 3 stages: the gain stage, passive equalisation and final gain and active equalisation. This enables excellent noise performance, extended RIAA equalisation beyond the audio band and great overload headroom. All RIAA equalisation capacitors are ‘through-hole’ mounted film designs, with low microphonic pickup and excellent transient performance. As phono stages are 1000x more sensitive than other inputs, this greatly benefits the sound quality. Reference Amplifier

Class AB1 2x100W

Reference amplifier is an Integrated amplifier with 3 Single ended inputs, 1 XLR balanced input, 1 Tape output, 1 Pre output and a master loop.

It’s design is a push-pull configuration implementing 2 power tubes per channel in class AB1 operation self-biasing and dual-mono power supply.

Utilizing two KT170 tubes, Reference amplifier can deliver up to 100W of power per channel, allowing it to drive any loudspeaker efficiently. Very high quality electronic components are implemented to achieve superior high-end sound quality. Low tolerance, high frequency, non-inductive, ultra low noise resistors are used in all stages. Premium quality oil capacitors (Mundorf Supreme Silver Gold Oil – Rike Ausdio QCap4 Copper Oil) are used for the signal. Self biasing configuration with chassis mount non-inductive low tolerance heatsink resistors.

All electronic components are through hole type of the highest quality silver soldered by hand.

Reference amplifier utilizes our top of the line 16 layer handmade output transformers with high quality copper wire and core material for superior sound quality.

Premium quality signal tubes are used in the driving stage.

Reference amplifier provides a balanced input and three single ended line inputs.

A master loop allows you to connect an external circuit such as room correction, equalizer etc. For the volume control the classic blue Alps is utilized.

All stages are on separate PCBs to achieve maximum isolation.

The PCB design offers very high SNR, low distortion and high channel separation. All electronics are in a separate compartment, shielded from the power transformer. Also the output transformers are in their own separate shielded compartment as is and the power transformer. All these contribute to the unique appearance of Reference integrated amplifier.

Reference amplifier is equipped with a surveillance circuit which monitors the current of each power tube. If a problem is spotted with any tube, the amplifier will not start and the status LED in the front panel will blink red accordingly with the faulty tube. In this way no damage can be caused to the amplifier by a malfunctioning tube and will show you which tube to replace.

The handmade 16 layer output transformers with high quality copper wire and core material, enable the amplifier to reveal an excellent sound stage and the slightest music details through the entire audio spectrum to give you a unique high-end audio experience.

The same applies to the power transformer. The positioning of the transformers is such that minimizes the magnetic coupling between power and output transformers.
