The upgrades in more detail:
Our R&D team has found a way to more than double the speed of the voltage gain stage, which in turn doubles the rate at which the speaker output stage can react.
The second gain stage transistors have been optimised, so they no longer need to be shielded by a cascode stage transistor. Removing the cascode means less amplifier stabilisation is required: that doubles the slew rate and delivers another uplift in sound quality.
The phono circuit topology comprises 3 stages: the gain stage, passive equalisation and final gain and active equalisation. This enables excellent noise performance, extended RIAA equalisation beyond the audio band and great overload headroom.
All RIAA equalisation capacitors are ‘through-hole’ mounted film designs, with low microphonic pickup and excellent transient performance. As phono stages are 1000x more sensitive than other inputs, this greatly benefits the sound quality.

Amplifier For The Modern Music Lover
Externally, the M-ONE is almost identical to the M-DAC+, audiolab's best DAC.
It's built in the same aluminum box, small enough to sit unobtrusively on a desk, table or shelf, with the same central OLED display and sleek dual rotary control system.
But while stand-alone DACs require a separate power amplifier to drive a pair of speakers, the M-ONE features suitably high-quality power amplification and a preamp for analog and digital sources.
The Magic Of DAC
The M-ONE's DAC section is equipped to process up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM audio data via USB, ensuring the M-ONE is ready to take full advantage of high-resolution digital audio now and in the future. The USB input also supports DSD files (the digital audio system originally developed for Super Audio CD), offering compatibility with DSD64, DSD128 and DSD256. This is a major plus, as DSD plays an important role in the growing high-resolution audio scene.
It Has The Power!
The preamplifier section combines minimalist design with high-quality components, ensuring a short, direct signal path to maintain sonic clarity. Volume is digitally controlled in the analog domain and driven directly to the Class AB final amplifier stage, which delivers 40W per channel into 8Ω, plenty of power to drive many modern speakers at room volume levels without a hint of strain.
A low-noise linear power supply powers all circuits from the DAC to the final amplification stage, incorporating a shielded toroidal transformer with multiple power sections to keep interference to a minimum.
This uncompromising circuit design results in a large music stage with detailed sound. When paired with decent quality speakers, the M-ONE's performance belies its small size.
The M-ONE shares the same high-quality headphone amplifier included in the M-DAC and M-DAC+, ensuring it's just as capable with headphones as it is powering speakers.
