The streaming section of the ND5 XS 2 uses the latest Naim network card featuring low-noise, high-speed low-voltage differential signalling (LVDS) to route the digital audio signal. The higher speed is capable of decoding all HD audio formats at up to 32 bits/384 kHz or DSD128. Rather than the source acting as the digital timing master, our new streaming board turns things around and allows our DAC clock to control the flow of audio data. The data is integer-over-sampled in a SHARC DSP to an incredible 40-bit accuracy before it’s fed to the PCM1791A Burr-Brown digital-toanalogue converter.
Developing a new streaming platform was one of the biggest projects we have ever taken on. Naim engineers across all disciplines – electronic, industrial, acoustic and mechanical – worked for three years to create a system that could make the most of online services such as TIDAL and Spotify while adding future-proof flexibility through Chromecast built-in. Supporting faster data rates with dual-band Wi-Fi and the latest 802.11ac protocol, this robust platform was designed for the highest performance on every level.

The Denon DNP-2000NE is a high-resolution network player with four DACs, Ultra AL32 Processing and HEOS. It also works as a USB DAC, with digital inputs and a headphone output, bringing streaming to any hi-fi system.
Built on hi-fi principles
The DNP-2000NE belongs to Denon’s NE series and follows the same rigorous engineering approach as the brand’s CD players and amplifiers. It is not simply a streaming box but a complete high-fidelity digital source, designed from the outset to serve sound quality first, with every engineering decision measured against what you hear.
Separate analogue and digital sections
The analogue and digital circuits sit on separate boards and are fed by independent power lines from the transformer. This keeps digital noise away from the sensitive analogue signal, so the music emerges against a quieter, blacker background.
Minimum signal path
The analogue stage follows a minimum signal path philosophy, with as few components as possible between the converter and the outputs. Music reaches your amplifier clean and dynamic, with its timing and tonal colour intact.
Solid chassis
The front panel and buttons are aluminium, the side panels are steel and the base is a double plate. At 9.7 kg, the construction damps vibrations that could otherwise affect the circuitry.

At 434 mm wide, the DNP-2000NE matches the other members of the NE series. The front-panel display and controls let you operate it and change settings without reaching for a phone.
EI transformer
The power supply is built around an EI-type transformer that delivers stable current to the circuits. Together with the independent power lines, it ensures every stage operates under ideal conditions, free from interactions that would cloud the sound.

The quality of a network player is decided at the point where digital data becomes music. Denon has invested most of its expertise here, combining top-tier conversion circuits with its own signal processing and carefully engineered measures against jitter and noise, so that every stream and file is reproduced with full resolution.
Four ES9018K2M chips
Conversion is handled by four 32-bit / 384 kHz ES9018K2M circuits. The multiple configuration improves spatial rendering, lowers noise and reduces harmonic distortion, for a cleaner and more open stereo image with better separation between instruments.
Ultra AL32 Processing
Denon’s proprietary Ultra AL32 Processing uses interpolation algorithms to restore information lost during digitisation. The result is smoother waveforms, higher resolution and a more natural presentation.
Jitter control
A jitter reducer, a master clock for the DACs and isolators on the USB-B and digital inputs protect the signal from timing errors and from noise originating in connected equipment.
Measurements that speak
With a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 120 dB and harmonic distortion of just 0.0006% in DSD, the DNP-2000NE reproduces music against an exceptionally low noise floor.
Native DSD playback
DSD files are played natively, without conversion to PCM, so their character is preserved. In DSD the frequency response extends from 2 Hz to 50 kHz, while dynamic range in PCM reaches 118 dB, for music with genuine depth and contrast between the quietest and loudest passages.
Streaming, USB-DAC and connections
The DNP-2000NE becomes the centre of your digital music. It brings streaming services, your network library, your computer and your TV together in one source, and it can work either as a straightforward source for your amplifier or as a preamplifier feeding a power amplifier directly, keeping your system simple and elegant.
HEOS and streaming
The built-in HEOS platform gives access to Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music and internet radio, as well as the music stored on your NAS. AirPlay 2, Bluetooth and Roon certification are also supported, and HEOS enables multiroom playback.
High resolution over USB
As a USB-DAC it accepts signals of up to 32-bit / 384 kHz PCM and DSD 11.2 MHz from your computer in asynchronous mode. From the network it plays FLAC, ALAC and WAV files up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and DSD up to 5.6 MHz.
HDMI ARC and digital connections
Via HDMI ARC it connects to your TV and can be controlled with the TV remote. Optical and coaxial inputs and outputs complete the picture.
Fixed and variable outputs, headphones
It offers a fixed analogue output of 2.2 Vrms and a variable output of 4.5 Vrms for direct connection to a power amplifier. The 150 mW into 32 ohm headphone output has three-step gain, and voice control works with Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri.
Everyday convenience
TV Auto-Play automatically selects the TV input as soon as it detects a signal on the digital input, and HEOS Favorites give instant access to your preferred stations. Dual-band Wi-Fi with two external antennas and an Ethernet port ensure a stable connection.
