Closed-back over-ear headphones with bamboo cups and 50 mm FreeEdge drivers
The Denon AH-D9200 are Denon's flagship closed-back over-ear headphones, with bamboo earcups, a die-cast aluminium frame and 50 mm FreeEdge drivers. They are made in Japan and come with two cables, for home and portable use.
Bamboo, aluminium and leather
Denon’s flagship closed-back wired headphone brings together Japanese manufacturing tradition with material choices that serve the sound above all else. Every component has been chosen to contribute to clarity of reproduction, as well as to the sense of luxury you would expect from a headphone in this class.
Bamboo earcups
The earcups are made from bamboo, a material with an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio. Its dense natural structure limits unwanted resonances inside the chamber, so the sound remains clean and uncoloured, while every pair carries the unique grain of the wood.
Die-cast aluminium frame
The structure that holds the earcups is made from die-cast aluminium for stability and longevity. The headband adjusts with a stepped click mechanism, so you can quickly return to exactly the same fit every time you put the headphones on.
Leather and memory foam
The ear pads and headband combine memory foam with genuine leather. The result is soft, even pressure around the ear and a sense of comfort that holds up during long listening sessions in the evening.
Built to last
The cables and ear pads are easy to replace, so the headphones can stay with you for many years. At 375 g they remain well balanced on the head despite their solid construction.
Made in Japan
The headphones are made in Japan, with the attention to detail that has defined Denon for decades. The precision of the assembly and the quality of the materials are obvious from the very first moment you pick them up and hold them in your hands.
FreeEdge technology
At the heart of each earcup sits a driver developed and built by Denon in Japan. The design philosophy is simple: a diaphragm that moves as freely and as controlled as possible, so it follows the musical signal faithfully without adding a character of its own to what you hear.
50 mm dynamic drivers
The large 50 mm dynamic drivers move the air needed for deep, clean bass with ease. At the same time they keep their speed and clarity through the mids and treble, where the finer details of a recording are found, from the breath of a singer to the decay of a cymbal.
FreeEdge diaphragm
With FreeEdge technology the diaphragm is not rigidly fixed at its edge. This free suspension reduces distortion and allows more uniform movement across the whole surface, resulting in a natural, airy sound.
Extended response
The frequency response extends from 5 Hz to 56 kHz, well beyond the limits of human hearing. That headroom ensures the headphones reproduce the full content of high-resolution files with ease.
Closed-back design
The closed-back architecture isolates the music from ambient noise and does not disturb the people around you. It is ideal for listening at home, in the office or in the studio, at any time of day.
Fatigue-free listening
The combination of low distortion, controlled resonances and a large driver delivers a sound you can enjoy for hours without fatigue. Voices remain natural, instruments keep their correct timbre and the stereo image has stability, focus and depth.
Partnering any source
A high-fidelity headphone deserves to work with as many sources as possible. Thanks to its high sensitivity and low impedance, the AH-D9200 performs just as convincingly on a high-end headphone amplifier as it does on a portable player, without any special preparation or matching on your part.
Easy to drive
With a sensitivity of 105 dB/mW and an impedance of 24 ohms, it reaches comfortable listening levels without needing a powerful amplifier. It works with most headphone amplifiers, with portable hi-fi players and, in many cases, directly with smartphones.
Two cables in the box
The first cable, 1.3 m long with OFC copper conductors and a 3.5 mm plug, is ideal for portable use. The second, 3 m long with silver-plated copper conductors and a 6.35 mm plug, is intended for your home system and dedicated headphone amplifier.
Detachable connection
The cables connect to each earcup with separate 3.5 mm plugs. The detachable design protects the headphones from accidental tugs and lets you switch cable to suit the source you are using.
A headphone for serious listening
Rated for input power of up to 1.8 W, the headphones also handle powerful amplifiers safely. They are a complete solution for anyone who wants to listen to their music in depth, night after night.
From home to travel
The short cable and modest power requirements make the AH-D9200 suitable for use away from home too, with a portable player or phone. At home, with the long cable and a dedicated headphone amplifier, it reveals its full potential with every kind of music.
