The DALI ALTECO C-1 is truly a multipurpose speaker in both design and function. DALI wanted to ensure that the ALTECO C-1 is usable as both a height speaker as well as a traditional stereo speaker.By designing the crossover for stereo use and by keeping a strict focus on DALI sound design principles, we have created a speaker that fulfills both criteria. It is the perfect fit for adding height information to a surround setup or taking the role as an out-of-the-way stereo speaker.The ALTECO C-1 delivers believable height information from Atmos, DTS-X and Auro-3D movies in surround setup - not only when “firing up” using the ceiling as a reflector, but also “firing down” from a position up under the ceiling.The ALTECO C-1 is able to achieve this even without special equalizing in order to enhance the effects from HRTF (Head Related Transfer Function) technology. A technology found in Atmos certified speakers.Instead the ALTECO C-1 relies only on the height processing done in the amplifier, when selected. Had we included non-linear HRTF equalizing in the ALTECO C1, it would have been impossible to use it as a versatile neutral speaker, limiting the use to only an up-firing type speaker.Designed the way it is the DALI ALTECO C-1 offers the best from several worlds giving you ultimate flexibility and multiple applications. DUAL SOUND MODEThe unique angular design combined with the dual sound mode enables this speaker to be used in a multitude of different scenarios. We use large magnet systems coupled to a very easy-to-drive moving system with long excursion, delivering deep and articulated bass. We've made the midrange slightly less prominent, giving an impression of more bass and a 'larger' or 'rounder' sound, which is often preferred in an in-ceiling or in-wall speaker. Switches on the PHANTOM K-80 also let you fine-tune the sound to suit your personal taste.OFF-AXIS WOOFERMaximising timing and optimising sound dispersionThe woofer is mounted slightly off axis to lower coloration and distortion, which gives a more even frequency response. By doing this, the tweeter can also be positioned closer to the woofer to improve the timing and phase between the two drivers. Angling the woofer also means it can be directed towards the listening position to optimise dispersion of the sound.TILTABLE TWEETERA directional tweeter for better high frequency soundThe 28 mm soft dome tweeter has been chosen for its excellent transient response, low colouration and high sensitivity. The oversized tweeter delivers a seamless crossover with the woofer, avoiding dips in the frequency response in the critical midrange. Mounted in a highly inert and practically resonance free solid aluminium wishbone bracket, the tweeter can be tilted towards the listening position for even better high-frequency performance. Tuned mass dampers also help to avoid unwanted distortion from the rest of the enclosure.

The Spektor 2 is a compact speaker, larger internal volume than the Spektor 1, but gives extra bass performance. With the backbox, you avoid rear sound radiation, reducing acoustic leakage from room to room and from floor to floor. The DALI backbox is not included with the PHANTOM E-60, but can be chosen as an optional accessory.

DALI SUB C-8 D Unlike some subwoofers the DALI SUB C-8 D has been engineered to perform equally well on both music and movies. It is very important to us that a subwoofer can render a performance true to the input signal. Though featuring a 8” down-firing woofer, the SUB C-8 D is everything but a ‘boombox’. PRODUCT DETAILS Unlike some subwoofers the DALI SUB C-8 D has been engineered to perform equally well with both music and movies. It is very important to us that a subwoofer can render a performance true to the input signal. Therefore a DALI subwoofer is everything but a ‘boombox’. Placing a subwoofer is a very large part of creating the perfect audio reproduction. We recommend placing the SUB C-8 D in a corner or if that is not possible alongside a wall. This will maximise the bass output and the distribution around the room. The compact size of the SUB C-8 D makes placing it correctly much easier than many larger subwoofers. DALI recommend using the SUB C-8 D with the ZENSOR and SPEKTOR series. Over the years our engineers have developed a set of sound design principles. Today these are applied in the creation of any DALI speaker. Naturally our subwoofers must be able to enter into any setup without sacrificing the purpose of providing wide dispersion, time coherence and low-loss performance. Therefore the DALI SUB C-8 D will feel equally at home in a movie focused surround setup as well as a compact stereo setup meant for mainly musical enjoyment. AMPLIFIER The integrated 170 Watt RMS Class D amplifier is a highly linear construction. The DALI SUB C-8 D will follow and render the required signal with an absolute minimum of bias. Designed not only for continuous power, but also for peak performances, the SUB C-8 D is able to deliver 220 Watt Peak Power. This is very relevant when it comes to both movie and music signals. To improve sound reproduction and to ensure performance under difficult circumstances, a limiter has been incorporated in the amplifier section. The integrated limiter works in two areas: It compares the input signal amplitude to the potential output signal level, and it compares the available supply voltage from the power supply to the expected output signal. If any of these comparisons show potential problem, the limiter will cut the signal in a soft manner and without affecting peak power. Fitted with controls for gain, cut-off frequency, and phase, the DALI SUB C-8 D will adapt to any front speaker and room acoustics. And with a choice of LFE and LINE inputs it can be connected to almost any amplifier, receiver or processor. The switch mode power supply is part of the reason for very low power consumption - only 0.4 Watt in standby mode. And the amplifier displays an impressive efficiency of 70%. In unison the high-efficiency amplifier section and power supply construction generate an absolute minimum of heat loss.
