Best-in-class sound, speed and metering in a 4x4 interface
Studio-grade sound in a compact interface
The Motu M4 is a 4-in / 4-out USB-C audio interface equipped with the same ESS Sabre32 Ultra DAC technology found in interfaces costing far more: 120 dB dynamic range on the main outputs and an ESS-driven headphone output. It offers two XLR/TRS combo inputs for mic, line or guitar, each with its own gain and 48 V phantom power and preamps measuring −129 dBu EIN, plus two line inputs for synths, drum machines or external preamps. MOTU drivers deliver round-trip latency of just 2.5 ms (96 kHz, 32-sample buffer).
Colour LCD metering, loopback and MIDI
The M4 is one of the few interfaces in its class with a full-colour LCD that clearly shows levels for all inputs and outputs. One-touch hardware monitoring and a monitor mix knob let you track with zero latency, while loopback blends computer audio with your mics for livestreaming and podcasting. Four TRS outputs (mirrored on RCA), MIDI in/out, USB bus power, a metal chassis and MOTU Performer Lite and Ableton Live Lite software complete the package.
Best-in-class audio quality
The M4 uses the same ESS Sabre32 Ultra DAC technology found in audio interfaces costing thousands and delivers a measured 120 dB dynamic range on its main outputs.
Clean preamps and ESS headphone output
The mic preamps measure −129 dBu EIN, while the ESS-driven headphone output rivals dedicated headphone amplifiers. Capture and monitor your audio with pristine clarity.
Speed and colour metering
MOTU USB drivers deliver round-trip latency of just 2.5 ms (96 kHz, 32-sample buffer), so you can play mic, guitar or keyboard through your computer with no noticeable delay.
The only colour LCD in its class
The full-colour LCD shows clear, detailed level meters for all inputs and outputs, so you always get your levels right when recording and mixing.
Loopback for live streaming
The M4 driver provides loopback channels to your computer: computer audio is routed back into your software, where you can mix it with the mics and guitars connected to the M4.
Podcasting made easy
Ideal for livestreaming, podcasting and video calls. One-touch hardware monitoring lets you hear your inputs with zero latency while you record.
