Μετά την πρόσφατη αναγέννηση των Rogers LS3/5a Classic 15 Ohm, με χαρά ανακοινώνουμε την κυκλοφορία της νέας βάσης Rogers LS3/5a Reference.Η έρευνα στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο επικεντρώθηκε σε διάφορα υλικά βάσεων. Τα αρχικά αποτελέσματα έδειξαν ότι η ξύλινη βάση προσφέρει πιο ισορροπημένο τονικό χαρακτήρα και αυξημένη μουσικότητα. Η περαιτέρω μελέτη διαφορετικών πυκνοτήτων και ειδών ξύλου ανέδειξε το εμπορικό υλικό Panzerholz (εμποτισμένο κόντρα πλακέ) ως την ιδανική λύση, χάρη στον συνδυασμό μάζας, ακαμψίας και απόσβεσης κραδασμών. Πρόκειται για ένα εξαιρετικά σκληρό, πολυεπίπεδο υλικό από φύλλα οξιάς και συνθετικές ρητίνες, που υφίσταται υψηλή πίεση και θερμοκρασία. Το τελικό αποτέλεσμα έχει σκληρότητα και ακαμψία αντίστοιχη μετάλλου.Βρίσκοντας τη χρυσή τομή ανάμεσα στις βάσεις υψηλής μάζας και στις ανοιχτού τύπου βάσεις, η βάση Panzerholz προσφέρει τον ιδανικό λόγο μάζας και απόσβεσης. Έτσι, σε αντίθεση με το μέταλλο, οι κραδασμοί διαχέονται χωρίς να δημιουργούνται ανεπιθύμητοι χρωματισμοί.Η κατασκευή βασίζεται σε έναν ενιαίο κεντρικό στύλο για μέγιστη ακαμψία εμπρός–πίσω. Χάρη στη δύναμη του υλικού, οι άνω και κάτω πλάκες βιδώνονται απευθείας στον στύλο με σπειρώματα. Μια κομψή λύση με ελάχιστο οπτικό αποτύπωμα, που επιτρέπει στο ηχείο LS3/5a να αποδώσει στο μέγιστο των δυνατοτήτων του. Ανοξείδωτες ακίδες Μ8 εξασφαλίζουν στιβαρή επαφή με το δάπεδο, ενώ η ανάρτηση της επάνω πλάκας γίνεται μέσω δίσκων από φελλό.Και πώς ακούγονται; Με μία λέξη: «Ολογραφικά». Η αποτελεσματική απορρόφηση των κραδασμών του ηχείου, σε συνδυασμό με την άκαμπτη στήριξη, επιτρέπει στο LS3/5a να αγγίξει νέα ύψη σε τονικότητα, υφή και χρονική απόσβεση, αποκαλύπτοντας πλούτο εσωτερικής λεπτομέρειας, απαλλαγμένο από ψευδείς τονισμούς.

Το να βελτιώσεις ένα σχέδιο ορόσημο με ιστορία πενήντα ετών, παραμένοντας πιστός στο πρωτότυπο, δεν είναι καθόλου εύκολο εγχείρημα.Ωστόσο, μόλις ακούσαμε τις σημαντικές βελτιώσεις στην απόδοση, δεν μπορούσαμε να τις αγνοήσουμε. Επεκτείνοντας την έρευνά μας από τη βάση ηχείων LS3/5A από Panzaholz, το επόμενο λογικό βήμα ήταν να αναρωτηθούμε: πώς θα αποδίδει το ίδιο υλικό ως baffle ηχείου; Όπως ήταν αναμενόμενο, η ηχητική συμπεριφορά ήταν αντίστοιχη με εκείνη της βάσης: πιο ανοιχτή στερεοφωνική εικόνα και καθαρότερη φθίνουσα απόκριση στο φάσμα. Αυτή η μεγαλύτερη διαύγεια μάς ώθησε να στραφούμε και στο crossover.
