New Focal Aria K2 936 Special Edition!

The success of Focal's Aria loudspeaker series could be due to the natural flax sandwich cones the range has used since 2013. However, the French brand today announces the Aria K2 936, a new edition of the popular floorstander but featuring the company's iconic K2 cone along with an Ash Grey finish.

The new Aria K2 936 is a compact 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker designed and built in France. Its three 6.5-inch K2 bass drivers hand the 936 impressive power handling, and dynamics says the brand.

Those bass drivers are partnered with a 6.5-inch K2 mid and an aluminium/magnesium TNF tweeter taking care of the upper frequencies. Additionally, there is a multi-port PowerFlow system for impact and a floor- facing vent for depth. Keeping everything together is an ultra-rigid MDF construction for very low vibrations and outstanding neutrality, according to Focal.

For those more interested in cold, hard facts, the frequency response is quoted as being 39Hz - 28kHz (+/- 3dB) and 260Hz / 3100Hz are the crossover points. Nominal impedance for the Aria K2 936 is 8 Ω with a minimum of 2.8 Ω. Focal recommends you use an amp with between 50 and 300W at its disposal.

The trademark yellow K2 sandwich cone in aramid fibre was revealed by Focal in 1986 and have evolved over the years. That said, the design has always focused on combining the three critical success factors for a speaker driver: rigidity, lightness and damping.

The latest generation K2 drivers now comprise an ultralight foam core sandwiched between a layer of aramid fibres and a layer of glass fibres. By incorporating this cone in the Aria 936, the Focal engineers promise more character while maintaining high performance.

Rounding off the K2 edition of Focal's 936 floorstanding loudspeakers is a stylishly contemporary Ash Grey finish - a Premium finish exclusive to Focal - which is combined with a leather- effect front panel.
