Almost 50 years after Sontec introduced the world's first parametric equalizer, we are proud to bring the Sontec to life in a digital version. A faithful recreation of Sontec's flagship mastering equalizer found in some of the world's most demanding studios.

Originally designed by Burgess Macneal and George Massenburg, the MES has evolved into an almost mythical device. If you are unfamiliar with the MES-432, this article will add a little flavor: ITI AUDIO MES-432C/9 

We are proud to have been developing this wonderful equalizer with Make Believe Studios, Burgess Macneal and his team over the past year. Burgess has made his personal version of the MES 432 available to us.

In essence, the MES-432 is an extremely flawless parametric equalizer, but the analog characteristics of the EQ are complex and cannot be directly represented with a standard digital EQ implementation.

In order to capture the behavior of the MES 432 true to the original, we have developed the "MH State Space Model Extraction" for the modeling process.

With this we capture the complex interaction and interaction of the analog filters even at a simple sample rate like 44.1 kHz, even if the chosen frequency band is above the Nyquist frequency. And that without oversampling and the associated latencies!

The Sontec MES-432D9D will also be available separately for AU, AAX and VST.
