Integrating active subwoofers designed to operate ‘free-standing’ into control rooms designed for flush/ in-wall monitoring can be a challenge, but the SCS70iW Pro (In-Wall) is dedicated to this application, simplifying installation, and ensuring optimal performance. The ATC passive SCM20P PRO Mk2 studio monitors present an affordable opportunity for home and project studios to experience the advantage of ATC’s superior performance. Used by world-class studios, engineers, artists, and post-production facilities, the SCM20P Pro Mk2 is a passive hybrid design incorporating a 6″ bass/mid driver with a 3″ soft dome for midrange assist. The woofer magnet assembly features ATC’s super linear magnet technology, which dramatically reduces third-order harmonic distortion by 10-15dB between 100HZ-3kHz. The result is a significant improvement in detail, clearly revealing ambient sounds and low-level effects, previously hidden. The SCM20P PRO Mk2 features a conventional cabinet for easy placement on any meter bridge (ATC recommends using stands behind the meter bridge for better performance).
As multi-channel systems increases in popularity, it is easy to forget that the basic stereo pair of speakers at the front of the listening area remains an essential element. Existing libraries of recorded music, the commitment of recording companies to stereo in its current form, and the new high resolution digital two-channel formats indicate that stereo will continue to be the main source of recorded music for the foreseeable future. For these reasons ATC still regards the main stereo speaker pair as the foundation on which a high performance multi-channel system can be built. The new innovative T16 two-way active monitor is an ideal way to establish that foundation. The SCM150ASL Pro is a further development of the SCM100ASL Pro, substituting a larger 375mm Super Linear bass driver, increasing the enclosure size to 150 litres. The result is extended bass, greater headroom and even more dynamic range.
As an all-new design, the SCM12 Pro proffers ATC’s acclaimed performance at a lower price point without compromising component quality and achieves this in a more compact, installation-friendly footprint ideally suited to nearfield monitoring as well as multichannel music and post-production applications.
Both models feature ATC’s renowned drive units, hand built in its UK facility. Of particular note is the new SH-25-76S 25mm/one-inch soft dome tweeter, the first to be designed and built by ATC, and the result of six years of research and development by Managing Director Billy Woodman and R&D Engineer Richard Newman. “The tweeter is designed and built with the same no-compromise philosophy as all other ATC drive units,” notes Newman, before continuing: “The design takes notes from the highly-regarded ATC midrange dome by utilising a dual-suspension design, negating the requirement for Ferro-fluid, and avoiding the detrimental effects of this drying out over time, a feature considered to be of utmost importance for longterm consistency.” The massive neodymium motor with heat-treated top plate is optimised to ensure an extended frequency response (-6dB @ 26kHz) and low non-linear distortion. The geometry of the waveguide is designed for optimum dispersion and made from a precision-machined alloy so that the entire structure is extremely rigid and free from resonances.The bass/mid driver used in both loudspeakers is ATC’s proprietary 150mm/six-inch Super Linear device. Constructed with a 75mm/three-inch voice coil and a short-coil, long-gap topology, it combines the high-power handling and low-power compression usually only found in large, high-efficiency systems with the fine resolution and balance of modern high-fidelity systems. Unique to the drive unit is ATC’s Super Linear technology, which, by employing specialist materials in the magnetic circuit, reduces third harmonic distortion in the lower midrange.The electronics in the active design have also had considerable development time invested in them, resulting in reduced noise and distortion (a further -10dB @ 10kHz) and a reduced operating temperature for improved reliability. The amplifier design is a revised version of ATC’s discrete MOSFET Class A/B design with 200W and 50W continuous power available for the bass and high frequency sections, respectively. The user controls have also been improved over the previous generation with more flexible input sensitivity controls and a revised low frequency shelf control to help achieve good balance in difficult acoustic conditions. The amplifier includes protection circuits for both DC offset and thermal overload.The cabinet has been restyled to more closely follow the larger monitors in ATC’s professional range and is constructed from heavily-braced MDF. Highly damped, elastometric panels are bonded and stapled to the cabinet’s inner walls to suppress cabinet panel resonances, while the enclosure’s front panel is heavily radiused to reduce cabinet diffraction, improving the frequency response and imaging. The loudspeaker can be wall mounted via a K&M 24120 Wall Mount (available separately). Note that the cabinet requires modification to accept the ‘top-hat’ mount.Ideally suited to critical nearfield listening applications in all control rooms, LCR surround monitoring in small-to-medium control rooms, and surround channels in medium-to-large control rooms, anyone looking to seriously improve their reference nearfield monitoring experience surely owe it to themselves and their studio setup to take a listen to the SCM20ASL Pro (V2) and/or the SCM20PSL Pro in action? Both the 3124V and the 3124MV are designed with the professional engineer in mind. Both units give four channels of the highest possible quality mic preamp. However, the 3124MV provides an additional audio mixer with a transformer balanced output, keeping the unit size and price reasonable. Both models are equally at home in the control room, studio, and recording truck or on stage. The 3124MV utilizes the same microphone preamp circuit that is used in all API consoles. It is equipped with the AP2516 input transformer and the proprietary output transformer found in all API mic pres and throughout the API product line. The unit offers Variable Output Level Control, switchable 3:1 output transformer selection, and an internal 48-volt phantom power supply, which is front panel switchable for each channel. Also provided is a front panel -20 dB pad switch that affects both the mic and line in. A 1/4" phone jack is available on the rear panel for each channel as an insert tip-send/ ring-return placed between the mic pre amp output and the mixer input. Like the 3124V, the 3124MV provides up to 65 dB of gain. The Hi-Z front panel input goes directly to the op-amp, allowing a low level input such as a guitar or bass to be amplified without a matching transformer or direct box. This Hi-Z input can accept input levels as high as +20 dBu, making it perfect for keyboards and other high level devices. The rear output is an XLR connector. Additionally, the 3124MV adds a stereo panner with a level control, and a post "fader" aux send. The stereo panners and the aux sends are bussed to master output controls and then to the rear panel jacks. A stereo AUX return is provided to return effects or cascade additional mixers for more inputs. The unique stereo aux return control acts to balance the left/right signal, yet staying stereo. It can also be used as a mono return.

The magnetic charge, which is generated on the recording- and playback heads during recording and playback is removed by this electronic, demagnetising wand in an electronic manner. Then the sound will be clear. Demagnetising takes only 3 to 5 seconds for each head. As a very strong magnetic field is generated by this accessory, do not use it if you have a pace-maker and do not use in the close vicinity of friends or family with a pace-maker.
The Nostatic Arm is the modern version of the formerly well known “Dust Bug” by Cecil Watts. The Nostatic arm incorporates a carbon fiber brush that removes the static electricity from the record during playback, and at the same time picks up the loose dust before the stylus reaches that part of the record. The Nostatic arm has an earth wire which is connected to the earth of the record player or the amplifier. The height can be easily adjusted to fit most record players. It also has a sliding weight in order to adjust the “dusting force” of the brush.
