The TK Audio DP3 is a versatile, hybrid-design stereo mic preamp that includes vintage and modern circuits to deliver a broad range of creative tonal options. With the DP3, you’ll get the mid-range germanium crunch of the mid 60s; the low-mid punch and thick sound associated with British Class A preamps from the early 70s; and the more modern tones of the 80s and 90s. Get vintage color, modern transparency, or even something in between — all in one rack space.TONS OF TONESWhile the DP3 includes TK’s proven input stage and germanium circuit from the DP2, we’ve also incorporated a new saturation circuit that — together with the vintage Class A stage — gives you a broad palette of character choices. The input stage is designed around a high quality Swedish Lundahl transformer and high gain stage, followed by selectable saturation and germanium circuits for even more color and harmonics. Instead of switching output stages, as was done in previous models, the Class A stage is now inserted in front of the Output level control, letting you drive the transformer harder without overloading your A/D converters while making the output less sensitive to different impedances. The Class A stage uses a heavy, custom-made Carnhill transformer that produces a fat, punchy sound with mid-range character and a warm top end.IDEAL FOR COLORFUL DI RECORDINGThe Hi-Z direct mode function bypasses the input transformer and input stage, and sends the instrument signal directly to the high-pass filter and the selectable saturation and germanium circuits. The dedicated Hi-Z instrument input has a separate activation switch, so you can leave your instrument connected all the time! Direct mode gain is +14 dB, which is perfect for bass recording together with the Class A stage. The latter is characterized by the use of a N55 neodymium magnet, the most powerful on the market, usually reserved for moving coil (MC) cartridges. The Rega Nd3 hifi cartridge promises rich and detailed reproduction as well as a wide soundstage.The Rega Nd3 moving magnet cartridge provides detailed reproduction and a wide soundstage to rediscover your favourite vinyl records.3-point fixingThe Rega Nd3 phono cartridge replaces the Rega Elys 2 model. Like the latter, it is designed to preserve the integrity of the musical signal by eliminating losses due to vibrations and resonances. Its internal design and its three-point fixing system, specific to the British manufacturer, ensure a perfect connection with the tonearm. The cartridge-tonearm couple is now one, the mechanical vibrations outside the signal are evacuated from the cartridge to the tonearm and then from the tonearm to the turntable, producing a resonance path which moves away from the record and preserves all the reading acuity of the cartridge.The Rega Nd3 phono cartridge uses the 3-point fixing standard used by the British manufacturer in order to benefit from perfect stability and an optimal connection with the tonearm.Elliptical diamond, aluminum cantileverThe Rega Nd3 phono cartridge features an elliptical diamond. This is mounted on an aluminium cantilever. A lightweight and rigid material that ensures perfect tracking of the grooves in order to extract every detail. The pivoting pads of the Rega Nd3 cartridge improve sonic performance by eliminating the mechanical joint between the stylus and the main body. Magic on kick drum, killer on guitars.The MANLEY ENHANCED PULTEC EQP-1A is our own interpretation of the historic Pultec Equalizer as originally produced by Pulse Techniques, Inc. We have been building these Manley Pultec EQs since 1990 after we bothered to hunt down Eugene Shenk in New Jersey to ask for his permission and blessings to produce our own version of his classic piece. These Manley Pultec units employ our own simple and clean all-tube make-up gain block to reamplify the signal after the passive EQ circuit. EQ may be set to 'flat' positions or BYPASSED entirely. All BOOST and CUT controls are continuously variable conductive plastic potentiometers for absolutely silent operation and long life. Our single rack unit monoblocks occupy one-third of the space of the 'antique Pultecs', an important consideration for allocation of outboard rack space. And if you notice, we've added a couple extra frequencies too. The rear mounted input switch selects 0 degrees or 180 degrees PHASE INVERT for the balanced gold pin XLR input or the transformerless unbalanced bridging input (1/4" jack) may be selected in that switch's middle position.People often ask us if our Pultec EQ's sound like the old ones to which we reply, "Yes! But better!" The originals had three transformers in the signal path whereas ours can be used completely transformerless. Our Manley Enhanced Pultec has a vastly superior B+ power supply, with regulated and balanced heater supply. Our line amp is known to be killer-sounding. The components we use today just weren't available in the 1960's. So, if you want a project with crackling carbon pots, dirty open frame wafer switches, 5% and 10% tolerance noisy carbon resistors, exposed tubes sticking out the back of the 3U chassis, etc., go pay top dollar for an antique Pultec!The MANLEY PULTEC EQP-1A, available in both single and 2-channel versions, uses 1 x 12AX7WA and 1 x 6414 (or 5965) in our ALL-TUBE single-ended line amplifier for the gain make-up and extra-beefy sound; gain is factory set for unity but additional gain is available by a rear mounted feedback adjustment trimpot. Like our 40dB Mic Preamps, the Manley Pultecs offer both transformer coupled balanced and direct capacitor coupled unbalanced outputs for easy interface and sonic variety. Kick drum? The Studio SM100 speaker is the replacement for the original Studio 100 which was in production for over 20 years until 2013.The first Studio 100 was originally made for both domestic and studio use, however it quickly became a favourite near field monitor in professional studios worldwide.The cabinet of the latest Studio SM100 remains the same as the original model, however all other parameters have been improved.The Studio SM100 now has a bass driver that looks similar to the original but has a rubber surround for longevity and power handling and sits in a ProAc basket with a dust cap. The 1-inch silk domed tweeter has a front plate to lower distortion and a roll surround.The SM100’s crossover was designed to give the overall sound quality of the original model but with a slightly smoother sound, making it ideal for long listening sessions.The SM100 combines both studio monitor levels of accuracy with the legendary ProAc musicality.
Small appearance with large stage presence. Meet the Response DB1. With the DB1, ProAc has achieved in a small speaker, a sound normally associated with a larger speaker, particularly the bass response. The DB1 cabinet is made from different thicknesses of high density MDF and further damped by bitumen to control cabinet resonance. A newly designed long throw bass driver was used and ported at the rear. The cone is made from pulp and mica which is then elastic coated and fitted with our ProAc acrylic pole damping phase plug. The crossover was designed to give a flatter response at high levels and the tweeter is the ProAc 1-inch silk dome similar to that used in other ProAc Response models.The midrange and high frequencies of the DB1 are superb and in the ProAc tradition, low in colouration and high in detail. The bass driver gives a wonderful bass quality, punchy and extended, similar to that which is experienced in a larger enclosure. The resulting sound stage is also comparable to that of a larger speaker. Following the success of the Tablette 10, ProAc decided to develop the design even further and produce a Signature version.The Tablette 10 Signature shares the attributes of the Tablette 10 but has a larger more projected midrange giving excellent sound stage with a feeling of size, which is often missing in small loudspeakers.A great deal of time was taken to design a new bass driver with an excel magnet system and our own solid copper phase plug.After many months of measuring and listening by Stewart Tyler, the hand-built crossover was fine-tuned to obtain the best results from the bass driver. The end product is a speaker similar to the Tablette 10 in sound but, on certain types of music and voice reproduction, advantages of the Tablette 10 Signature can be easily heard. Performance is everything to us and so it drives physical design revisions. Our engineers, recognizing the need for greater acoustic volume to achieve the goals of greater fluidity and power, turn to the designer who works dimensions to fool the eye into seeing a smaller, more compact footprint even though cabinet volume increases. Using gently rounded corner radii that allows the eye to flow over and see less visual mass. The result is both modern and familiar with no unnecessary adornment. Outsized Performance INNOVATIVE ALLOY/FIBRE BASS ENGINES To achieve higher output with better control requires a complete overhaul of the suspension components. Much like the suspension on a sports car, these items are responsible for the tuning and feel of our designs. By increasing the cabinet volume, efficiency is improved yielding higher output for no more amplifier power. Less back pressure inside the cabinet means we can tune for a stiffer, better controlled driver suspension. We retained the best aspects of our previous design, such as the aluminum center cap responsible for stiffening the lightweight 10” (250mm) cone while adding almost no mass. The updated combination produces considerably better attack and dynamics with greater transparency. Tried and True Amplifiers THE BRAINS BEHIND THE BRAWN We have retained our signature Class A/B amplifiers used in every generation of Serie T since 2006. Reliability is the key to happy ownership and with some 200,000 and counting of this range leading long happy lives, Serie T/x owners can feel certain of REL’s standard setting reliability. The powerful 300 watt mosfet amplifier used in the T/9x remains an icon with huge reserves of current, massive power supplies but small upgrades are found everywhere. New driver mosfets that open up performance and transparency and new methods for securing the toroidal transformers mean better performance and superior strength. REL’s legendary High Level Input connection and fast filters are a significant part of the REL story. Connecting via the speaker outputs of your amplifier without drawing any power from it may seem like magic, but the real magic lies in the way the sound takes on a natural character.
