Τα αρχικά αποτελέσματα έδειξαν ότι η ξύλινη βάση προσφέρει πιο ισορροπημένο τονικό χαρακτήρα και αυξημένη μουσικότητα. Η περαιτέρω μελέτη διαφορετικών πυκνοτήτων και ειδών ξύλου ανέδειξε το εμπορικό υλικό Panzerholz (εμποτισμένο κόντρα πλακέ) ως την ιδανική λύση, χάρη στον συνδυασμό μάζας, ακαμψίας και απόσβεσης κραδασμών.
